A spin on Native American art.

Linda Jo Stabb creates some of the most amazing bead necklaces by employing a method of off-loom bead weaving known as the peyote stitch, a popular Native American art. Following are several unique necklaces that utilize this method.

An amazonite stone is used as a focal bead for this necklace. A semi-precious stone, amazonite is often referred to as a "hope stone" as it's believed to instill confidence. This particular stone came from Moorefield Mine in Amelia County, VA. The chain of the necklace is made from glass beads, and smaller pieces of amazonite, while the clasp is mother of pearl. $125.

Pictured here are several pieces created from fossils. The center piece uses a sand dollar as its focal point ($125), while the remaining two necklaces feature trilobites ($125 - $145). You really have to see these amazing pieces to fully appreciate their value. You can find Linda Jo on Roanoke Farmer's Market in Southwest Virginia most Fridays and Saturdays weather permitting. And yes, the Roanoke City Market is a year round market!
