Home Remedies
So on March 25th I started using generic Preparation H around my eyes in an effort to reduce wrinkles. (See post.) I've heard people swear by it. However, as of yet I still haven't noticed a difference. I'm going to keep trying a little while longer and see what happens.
Additionally, I've been giving several other home remedies a try as I've been sick for a little over two weeks. I've only just started improving and today is the first day I have most of my energy back. I had heard that applying Vick's Vapor Rub to the soles of your feet will make you better, so on the second day of my cold I gave it a try. A week later my head cold had settled into my chest. Obviously it hadn't worked.
After nearly a week of a chest cold and no signs of improvement even with a daily intake of antihistamines and Mucinex I decided I'd give another home remedy a try. After all, I'd been sick for two weeks now. I had a lot of people tell me that a warm shot of whiskey with honey and lemon will knock that stuff right out. I had trouble believing it. I mean how can whiskey do what conventional medicine cannot? I reluctantly tried it. We had some Jack Daniel's - yuck - at the bar downstairs so that's what I ended up choking down. (I hate hate hate the stuff.) My husband said that was the first night I didn't snore. I also didn't wake myself up in the middle of the night coughing. In the morning, my voice - which I had been close to losing - was back to normal, and I no longer had a wet cough. It actually worked, knocking all that ick out of my chest, and two days later I'm almost completely well.
So, I was wondering if anyone else has tried and true home remedies that they'd like to share. If so, feel free to post your experiences - both successes and failures - in the comments below.

I have used home remedies like this too. I happen to use a Neti Pot when I am sick and it is AMAZING!

I've heard the American Prep-H doesn't work and that only the Canadian does. I find Retin-A has been keeping my wrinkles away. Not a home rememdy but sure works! You can search Spectacular Skin Message Board and find lots on using Prep-H.

When I was a child, my mom ALWAYS put some whiskey and honey in tea for a cold. It helped me sleep and the honey soothes your throat. She would also
rub my neck and chest with vicks and
that also helped me breath better. The above gave the same effect ( I think ) as a dose of Nyquil.
I am sure there are some other home remedies out there, but am not if they work. I will be interested to hear if anyone else has any as well.
