Today's shopping finds are all about Japan! Here are a few Japanese and Japanese inspired products that offer both a traditional and modern twist.



Looby Lou Obi belt by Looby Lou Crafts, $29.50
Looby Lou obi belts are inspired by the Japanese obi but are adapted for modern women! They are easy and comfortable to wear. They can really give an outfit that extra wow factor and individual twist.

The front panel is pleated into the ties. This gives the obi belt a unique shape, creating small folds that make it easy to wear whilst being versatile. For example it can be worn with a gentle curve shape at the top or bottom, or you can fold the top over so just the bottom is curved or vice versa. You can wear it narrow or wide, gathered or flat – the choice is yours. It is great for cinching in the waist! The ties can be tied at the back or can be wrapped around and tied at the front. There are so many ways to wear this belt - have fun with it!

The decorative front panel is a Japanese cotton fabric. The print features small pink Japanese sakura (cherry blossoms) with some metallic gold glittery stems on black. Great for evening dress!

The cherry blossom kanzashi are made of silk flowers. I used authentic Japanese silk fabric that is used to make kimono. Beautiful fabrics with gorgeous bright colors have always been one of greatest my passion. When I came across "Tsumami Kanzashi" online I knew it was fate. This technique is used to make exquisite hair "jewelry" for the apprentice geisha, maiko. It took me a while to gather all traditional material to start working on the projects on my mind. Here they are, I hope you enjoy and love them as much as I do.
