Truffle Bath Melts Recipe

Ingredients:

2.75 oz. unrefined cocoa butter
1/2 teaspoon unsweetened baking cocoa powder
.05 oz. Rose Cognac Sugar fragrance oil (or similar)
1 oz. white natural melt and pour soap base
pink soap colorant of choice

Tools & Supplies:

digital scale
Wilton Easy Flex Heart 24-Cavity Silicone Mold
utensils for stirring
measuring spoon
cutting board
large glass Pyrex measuring cup
microwave

This Valentine's truffle bath melts recipe makes wonderful heart shaped DIY Valentine's Day gifts for your special Valentine that smell like chocolate and roses! This bath melts recipe is super easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Plus, you can use the same heart shaped mold to make several of my other DIY Valentine's day gifts.

Instructions:

This truffle bath melts recipe will yield four bath melts.

Using a digital scale, begin by weighing out the cocoa butter into a large glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat at reduced power in the microwave until it has melted completely. (Alternately you can use a double boiler.)

Now use the measuring spoon to measure out a half teaspoon of the unsweetened cocoa powder. (You can use a full teaspoon of cocoa powder if desired for darker truffle bath melts and more chocolate scent.) Whisk into the melted cocoa butter using a fork or whisk until the cocoa powder has been fully incorporated and is free of any clumps.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly then weigh out the fragrance oil and add to the mixture. Mix well.

Next, place your heart mold onto a cutting board or small cookie sheet for easy transport.

Then pour the melted bath melts mixture evenly into four of the cavities of your heart silicone mold.

Using the cutting board for stability, transfer your mold to the refrigerator. Refrigerate your Valentine’s truffle bath melts until they’ve completely solidified.

Now prepare the “icing” for your truffle bath melts.

Weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. (I use a natural soap base here as it cools and solidifies faster than a basic glycerin soap base with SLS.) Heat in the  microwave for 20-30 seconds, then remove and stir. Allow to cool slightly.

This bath melts recipe is super easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Plus, you can use the same heart shaped mold to make several of my other DIY Valentine's day gifts.

Now remove the bath melts from the refrigerator. Unmold and place them top up onto a cutting board or a cookie sheet. Now slowly pour the white soap base across the tops of the cold bath melts in small lines until you have reached your desired look.

Now prepare your pink “icing.” In the same container you used for the white “icing” weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base. Heat in the microwave 20-30 seconds until melted. Now add a pinch of colorant, if using a pigment powder for color, or a few drops of a liquid soap colorant to the melted soap base until you reach desired color. Stir well so the color is completely mixed into the soap base.

Now slowly pour the pink tinted soap base across the tops of the cold bath melts in small lines until you have reached your desired look. (The pigment I used for my truffle bath melts faded to more of a coral color so be sure to check with the manufacturer or company you purchase your soap colorants from to see if they fade or the colors morph in melt and pour soap.)

Now carefully remove your Valentine’s truffle bath melts from your working surface and package as desired.

Super Easy DIY Gem Bath Melts Recipe

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create a beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favor or gift. Or make DIY gem shaped solid lotion bars instead!

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts! Made primarily of moisturizing mango butter, these gem bath melts will melt in bath water or on skin at around 86°F. As they begin to melt instantly when applied to skin they can also be used as solid lotion bars. Scent however you like – I scented mine with a Champagne fragrance oil – and customize with different colors of mica for a touch of shimmer on skin and/or fine glitter for more obvious color play.

If you live in a warmer climate that won’t accommodate your gem bath melts staying solid due to the heat, then be sure to try my alternate solid lotion bar recipe instead! Read on to learn how to make your own DIY gem bath melts with my super easy bath melts recipe.

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts!

DIY Easy Gem Bath Melts Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

4 oz. refined mango butter
2.5 mL fragrance oil or 1 mL essential oil
1 teaspoon mica
pinch of fine glitter, optional

What you’ll need:

Gemstone Silicone Mold
Digital Scale
Graduated Plastic Transfer Pipettes
Glass Pyrex Measuring Cup
Microwave or Double Boiler
Measuring Teaspoon
Utensil for Stirring
Cutting Board

Instructions:

For this bath melts recipe I used Diamond Dust mica powder from Nature’s Garden and the Champagne fragrance oil from Brambleberry. However you can use your choice of mica and fragrance that fits your needs and/or color scheme. The mica will stay incorporated throughout your melted mango butter as it sets up. However, should you choose to use fine glitter keep in mind that it is heavier than mica and will sink to the bottom. The glitter really sticks to skin when you rub these onto your skin and can look fantastic if you’re going for a glittery Halloween or party look.

Using a digital scale weigh out the mango butter. Place in a glass Pyrex measuring cup and heat at 50%, stirring partially through, until melted. (Alternately you can use a double boiler.) Be sure to handle the measuring cup with a dish towel or pot holder as the glass will get hot!

Allow the mango butter to cool slightly then measure out the fragrance oil using a graduated plastic transfer pipette. Stir the fragrance into the melted mango butter.

Using a measuring spoon, measure out one teaspoon of mica and, if desired, a pinch of glitter. Stir into the melted mango butter.

Place your gems mold on a cutting board. Now use the Pyrex measuring cup to carefully pour the melted mango butter into the mold.

Pick up the cutting board with the filled diamond mold on it and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the mango butter to solidify fully – about an hour or so – before unmolding. If you try to unmold your gem bath melts and they begin to crack, they aren’t ready to be unmolded. Simply place them back in the refrigerator a little longer at which point they will pop out of the mold without cracking.

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts!

Easy Gem Solid Lotion Bar Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

.8 oz. beeswax
.8 oz. cocoa butter
.8 oz. mango butter
1.5 oz. (liquid at room temperature) carrier oil of choice
.1 oz. Manuka honey or raw local honey
2.5 mL fragrance oil or 1 mL essential oil
1 teaspoon mica

Instructions:

This gem solid lotion bar recipe is easy to tweak based on the ingredients you have on hand. For the cocoa and mango butters you can opt to use all mango butter or all cocoa butter instead of both. If you don’t want to use honey – Manuka honey is well renowned for it’s anti-bacterial and healing properties – you can simply use 1.6 oz. of carrier oil instead and omit the honey.

Weigh and combine the beeswax and butters in a glass Pyrex measuring cup and heat at 50% power, stirring occasionally,  in the microwave until melted. (Alternately you can melt the ingredients in a double boiler or make your own double boiler by placing the Pyrex measuring cup on a canning ring in a pot of water on the stove.

Now weigh out the carrier oil and honey and stir into the melted butters and wax.

Follow by measuring out both the mica with a measuring spoon and the fragrance oil with graduated plastic transfer pipette and stir them into the melted solid lotion bar ingredients.

Now place the diamond gems mold on a cutting board. Fill the mold with your melted ingredients then carefully place the cutting board with the mold into the refrigerator until the lotion bars have fully hardened.

Now that you’ve made your DIY gem bath melts and/or gem shaped solid lotion bars, simply package them as desired – such as in clear cellophane treat bags tied with ribbon – and they’re ready for gifting!

Natural Homemade DIY Lavender Bath Melts Recipe - Homemade Gift Idea and Beauty DIY

Natural soy wax is a wonderful ingredient not only for making your own DIY candles, but also for use in natural skin care products. Since soy wax is used for making homemade massage candles it made perfect sense to me to use this wax to make all natural bath melts in my lavender bath melts recipe. Not only is soy wax an inexpensive alternative to beeswax, it also has a much lower melting point – right around 120° F – which makes it perfect for utilizing in bath melts.

Beauty DIY and Homemade Gift Idea - Natural Lavender Bath Melts Recipe

Natural Lavender Bath Melts Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

40 grams natural soy wax
11 grams ultra refined shea butter
30 grams refined and deodorized cocoa butter
22 grams grapeseed oil
1 gram lavender (or other) essential oil (or 2 grams fragrance oil)

Instructions:

I molded these natural bath melts in a Silikomart Silicone Chocolate Flower Mold. This recipe will fill all the cavities in one of these molds and yields fifteen flower shaped bath melts.

To make these bath melts, begin by weighing out the soy wax, cocoa butter and shea butter using a digital kitchen scale then combine these ingredients together in a small to medium sized glass pyrex measuring cup. Heat in the microwave until melted, then weigh out the grapeseed oil and essential oil and mix into the wax and butters.

Carefully pour the now liquid bath melts into each cavity of the mold then allow to harden fully. (If you place this mold on a cutting board before pouring you can easily transfer the mold to the fridge after pouring to hasten the cooling process.) Once the melts have solidified remove from the mold and store in an air tight container in a cool, dry location.

To use simply add one to two melts to warm bath water or massage a melt onto your skin by hand when bathing in a bath or shower to soften and moisturize skin.
