Ingredients:

16 oz. Stephenson Suspending Body Wash Base
.4 oz. skin safe fragrance oil of choice
1/2 teaspoon standard biodegradable cosmetic glitter, color of choice

DIY Mermaid Body Wash! Whether your daughter is dressing up as a mermaid for Halloween or playtime, she can feel like a mermaid everyday with this easy 3-ingredient DIY glitter body wash made with earth friendly biodegradable glitter!

Instructions:

Be sure to let your daughter help with this easy bath and body project. Not only does it allow you to sneak in some extra one-on-one bonding time, but she’ll be even more excited to try out her new mermaid body wash! (You can also surprise her with a kid-friendly soapmaking book to further encourage her creativity!)

Using a digital scale, weigh out 16 oz. of suspending body wash base.

Next, weigh out your fragrance oil of choice and stir into the body wash base. (I recommend using a fragrance oil that does not have a yellow tint and is free of vanilla as it will affect the color of your final product.)

Now measure out the glitter and mix into the scented body wash base.

Using a small funnel, fill two 8 oz. body wash bottles, then cap and label as desired.

I used frosted bottles for my mermaid body wash which made the glitter hard to detect through the container. However you can use 8 oz. white bottles or 8 oz. clear bottles based on your packaging preference.

Giving your mermaid body wash as gifts? Pair it with a mermaid tail blanket!

Men’s Body Wash Recipe for Dry or Sensitive Skin

Disclosure: Blog posts may contain affiliate links for which I receive a small commission when you make a purchase. Full disclosure can be found here.

This men's body wash recipe is perfectly suited for men who aren't a fan of traditional bar soap or want a more moisturizing product that won't leave their skin feeling stripped and tight.

This men’s body wash recipe is perfectly suited for men who aren’t a fan of traditional bar soap or want a more moisturizing product that won’t leave their skin feeling stripped and tight. Because this men’s body wash recipe uses a simple, unscented Castile liquid soap as a base for the body wash, it’s incredibly quick and easy to make. The addition of aloe vera gel, glycerin and natural carrier oils help to keep moisture locked into skin while also nourishing what is the largest organ on the human body. This men’s body wash recipe also includes one of my favorite go to ingredients – neem oil – that while optional, helps to combat body acne and other skin issues.

Ingredients:

5 oz. organic liquid Castille soap
2.5 oz. aloe vera gel
1 oz. rosehip seed oil
.5 oz. liquid vegetable glycerin
.1 oz. neem oil
3 mL skin safe masculine scented fragrance oil of choice, optional
2mL Polysorbate 20, optional

Instructions:

Using a digital scale weigh out the liquid Castile soap, aloe vera gel, rosehip seed (or other carrier) oil, vegetable glycerin and neem oil. Combine in a large Pyrex measuring cup then stir gently to mix all the ingredients.

Next, using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out your skin safe fragrance oil of choice – or optionally half the amount of essential oil – and stir into the body wash. (The fragrance oil will mask the scent of the neem oil in this men’s body wash recipe.)

Now use a clean graduated transfer pipette to measure out the Polysorbate 20. Stir into the body wash mixture. (While this ingredient is optional it will help to keep your fragrance and other ingredients evenly combined within the body wash.)

Finally, use a funnel to pour into an 8 oz. container of your choice and label as desired for personal use. Shake gently then use as you would a regular body wash! (Psst. You can find and print out the “handmade” labels featured in this post at Everything Etsy here. Bulk blank sticker labels are available for a great price at World Label.)

Ingredients:

3 oz. organic liquid Castille soap
2 oz. aloe vera gel
1 oz. rose hydrosol
.25 oz. evening primrose oil
30 drops (or 1.5 ml) lavender essential oil

Instructions:

Using a digital scale, weigh out the Castille soap, aloe vera gel, rose hydrosol and evening primrose oil into a medium to large glass Pyrex measuring cup.

Use a dropper or graduated transfer pipette to add the lavender essential oil.

Mix the ingredients for this rose and lavender body wash recipe until they are fully incorporated then use a funnel to pour the body wash into a 6-8 oz. container of your choice.

Shake before use and enjoy as you would any other body wash!

This homemade rose and lavender body wash recipe is so simple to make that you won't believe how luxurious it feels on skin! Plus it's also great as a foaming hand soap refill!

Use it as moisturizing hand soap!

Alternately, this homemade rose and lavender body wash recipe also makes a wonderful, moisturizing hand soap by the sink! Simply refill your existing hand soap container with this body wash. To refill a foaming hand soap container, fill the container 1/3 of the way full with your body wash then fill the remainder of the container with distilled water.

Why evening primrose oil?

Evening Primrose Oil contains a high concentration of the fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid, also called GLA. This fatty acid gives this plant its remarkable healing properties. Studies have shown that evening primrose oil helps to moisturize, rejuvenate and repair skin cells as well as provide relief from skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. Don’t want to use evening primrose oil? You can substitute any carrier oil in it’s place.

What about other substitutions?

In addition, you can easily change the fragrance of this body wash recipe by substituting the rose hydrosol with any other flower hydrosol of your choice. Prefer simply a rose scented body wash? Omit the lavender essential oil. Or use your favorite essential oil in its place! Mix and match your favorite flower hydrosol and essential oil(s) for a fun custom scent.
