Strawberry Smoothie Foaming Salt Scrub Recipe! Learn how to make this easy spring inspired strawberry smoothie foaming whipped salt scrub recipe! It's made with real strawberry powder which is rich in polyphenols and Vitamin C and has natural skin soothing properties.

I created this foaming salt scrub recipe with real strawberry fruit powder for it’s skin soothing properties. Strawberry fruit powder is rich in polyphenols and Vitamin C and has toning properties when used in skincare products.

In addition, I used dendritic salt in lieu of regular salt. Dendritic salt has a finer grain and larger surface area than other salts which offers greater fragrance retention in cosmetic applications. It also dissolves faster in water.

Ingredients:

8 oz. (227 grams) foaming bath whip
14 oz. (113 grams) dendritic salt
1 oz. (28 grams) strawberry fruit powder
.25 oz. (7 grams) strawberry fragrance oil
2 teaspoons Pink Vibrance mica powder

Instructions:

In a large container, weigh out the foaming bath whip base and the fragrance oil. Mix together. (I specifically used Crafter’s Choice foaming bath whip for my strawberry smoothie foaming salt scrub recipe.)

In a separate container weigh out the salt and strawberry fruit powder.

Then, using a measuring spoon, measure out the mica powder.

Mix the mica, strawberry powder and salt together then pour into the scented foaming bath whip base, mixing with a spatula as you go.

Once the dry ingredients are incorporated into the scented foaming bath whip base, mix well with a hand mixer on high speed for 3-5 minutes.

Now spoon or pipe the strawberry smoothie foaming salt scrub into your containers of choice. I used 9 oz. clear straight sided glass jars with silver metal lug caps from from SKS Bottle & Packaging. This product will yield around 22 oz. (624 grams) of product by volume. So I was able to fill two 9 oz. and one 4 oz. glass jars.

To use, simply remove desired amount and massage onto damp skin in the shower to cleanse, tone and exfoliate, then rinse off.

My strawberry smoothie foaming salt scrub recipe is best suited for normal to oily skin.

It is important to note that fine salt crystals will dissolve in this base over time. Therefore I recommend using larger salt crystals than the dendritic salt if you aren’t using this product right away. You can also substitute the salt with sugar.

In addition, I advise using a preservative if you’re planning to sell or store your strawberry smoothie foaming salt scrub prior to use. If selling your homemade products, you’ll need to follow FDA guidelines for labeling your product. Not sure how to label your creations? I highly recommend the book, Soap and Cosmetic Labeling: How to Follow the Rules and Regs Explained in Plain English, by Marie Gale.

Like the idea of strawberries but don’t want a strawberry scent? This foaming salt scrub recipe is also nice with a pink lemonade flavor oil!

This foaming Celtic sea salt scrub recipe contains light grey Celtic sea salt packed with 82 trace minerals and prized for it's natural skin care benefits. Its light grey hue comes from the pure clay soil the salt is harvested from and, like dead sea salt, Celtic sea salt is also naturally moist. When used in skin care applications, Celtic sea salt helps to keep skin moisturized and revitalized. In addition it also aids in improving the skin barrier function and helps to eliminate roughness and inflammation on the skin’s surface.

In addition it also aids in improving the skin barrier function and helps to eliminate roughness and inflammation on the skin’s surface.

Like Epsom salt, which is rich in magnesium, Celtic sea salt also offers anti-inflammatory benefits due to its own high magnesium content. This in turn can help those with muscle and joint pain. It also helps to flush out toxins to detoxify skin and aids in improving blood circulation. To add further detoxifying skin care properties to this Celtic sea salt scrub, you can also experiment with adding natural clay or activated charcoal to your foaming Celtic sea salt scrub recipe.

My foaming Celtic sea salt scrub recipe, like my foaming salt scrub recipe here, also includes a glycerin melt and pour soap base. This in turns gives this Celtic sea salt scrub some soap like properties. As a result this scrub will lather lightly when massaged onto skin allowing you to skip that bar of soap or bottle of body wash. I also include a blend of essential oils and neem oil prized for their healing and anti-bacterial/anti-fungal properties. These ingredients make this Celtic sea salt scrub a wonderful option for problem skin as well as feet!

Ingredients:

5 oz. clear glycerin melt and pour soap base
.5 oz mango butter
1 oz. grapeseed oil
.5 oz. 100% neem oil
10 oz. coarse grey Celtic sea salt
2 mL rosemary essential oil
2 mL lavender essential oil
1 mL tea tree essential oil
pinch chromium green oxide pigment powder, optional

Instructions:

Note that this foaming Celtic sea salt scrub recipe has not been tested using an all natural melt and pour soap base and may not perform as desired if used. ie. You could end up with a scrub that’s more like a solid rock hard bar of soap. I specifically used Crafter’s Choice basic clear melt and pour soap base. It’s also advised you not use metal utensils for this project when mixing in the Celtic sea salt.

Begin by using a digital scale to weigh out the mango butter into a 4 cup glass Pyrex measuring cup. (Alternately you may use a double boiler.) Heat in the microwave at 50% power until mostly melted. Remove from the microwave.

Weigh out the clear glycerin melt and pour soap base and cut into cubes using a Chef’s knife. Add the soap cubes to the glass Pyrex measuring cup with the mango butter. Heat in 20-30 second increments, stirring in between each heating, until the soap and mango butter melt completely.

Now weigh out the grape seed oil – or other liquid at room temperature carrier oil of choice – and the neem oil and stir into the melted soap/mango butter mixture. (Learn more about neem oil here.)

Using a fresh graduated plastic transfer pipette for each essential oil, measure out and stir in the tea tree, lavender and rosemary essential oils.

In a separate glass container or bowl, weigh out the grey Celtic sea salt. I used coarse salt for my foaming Celtic sea salt scrub, however you can also use fine Celtic sea salt if your skin is irritated by the coarser grains. (I found grey Celtic sea salt at my local co-op, however, it can also be purchased online.)

If using a colorant, add a pinch of the chromium green oxide powder to the Celtic sea salt and mix in using a wood or plastic utensil. (Alternately, you can try a natural colorant such as spirulina powder.)

Now slowly add the Celtic sea salt into the other ingredients, mixing as you go. Once thoroughly combined, spoon into three 4 oz. glass jars. Or double my foaming Celtic sea salt recipe to make three 8 oz. jars. I used a 8 oz. wide mouth mason jar and a 4 oz. mason jelly jar for mine.

Foaming Salt Scrub Recipe

Ingredients:

6 oz. Crafter’s Choice basic white soap base
. 8 oz. safflower oil
.25 oz. sal butter
.7 oz coarse pink Himalayan salt
1.75 oz. fine dead sea salt
2.15 oz. Epsom salt
.15 oz. fragrance oil, of choice

Instructions:

You will need to use a basic melt and pour soap base for my foaming salt scrub recipe. I specifically used the Crafter’s Choice basic white soap base. I can’t say that this will turn out the same using other soap bases, however, if you use an all natural soap base you’re likely to get a hard bar of soap rather than a salt scrub as the chemical composition of the soap bases is so different.

Using a digital scale begin by weighing out the soap base. Cut into chunks using a Chef’s knife and heat in either a double boiler or in a large glass Pyrex measuring cup in 30 second increments, stirring in between heatings, until melted.

Now weigh out the sal butter and melt. Stir the melted sal butter into the melted soap base.

Follow with safflower oil and the fragrance oil. (I used a cayenne caramel fragrance oil for my foaming salt scrub recipe.) Weigh out the amounts needed and stir into the melted ingredients until thoroughly incorporated.

Finally add your salts. Weigh out each of the salts and mix into the melted foaming salt scrub recipe ingredients until the mixture starts to solidify.

This foaming salt scrub recipe is super easy to make and can be customized with your favorite scent! Just melt, pour and mix ingredients for a foaming salt scrub that gently exfoliates as it lathers and cleanses like soap!

Pour/scoop your foaming salt scrub into an 8 oz. plastic (BPA free) low profile jar and top with a sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt if desired. (Or fill individual favor jars for party or wedding favors.) Allow the foaming salt scrub to completely set up. It will appear solid but will give when you scoop it out or press your finger into it. Now screw on your lid and label or decorate your container to suit. (I decorated my container with a strip of Love Kitchen Translucent Washi Sticker Tape I purchased from Happy Zakka Life on Etsy.

To use simply scoop out the desired amount and massage onto wet skin in the tub or shower. Your foaming salt scrub will have a light lather. Rinse off completely then pat dry.

Ingredients:

12 oz. Mango Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
2 Tablespoons Grapeseed Oil
1/2 oz. Shea Butter
2 Tablespoons Pink Himalayan Salt
1/4 Cup Dead Sea Salt
1/2 Cup Epsom Salt
1/2 oz. (or approximately 2 Tablespoons) Fragrance Oil or 1/4 oz. (approximately 1 Tablespoon) Essential Oil of choice

Homemade Foaming Salt Scrub Recipe - Easy Bath & Beauty DIY

Instructions:

Cut your melt and pour soap base into chunks using a Chef’s knife. Then using a Digital Kitchen Scale, weigh out 12 oz. of soap base into a large glass pyrex measuring cup. Next weigh out 1/2 oz. of shea butter and add to the soap chunks. Heat your soap base and shea butter in the microwave just until melted. (If you are subbing the melt & pour soap base it is important to note that this recipe only works with a melt and pour soap base that contains SLS. Natural soap bases will turn the final product as hard as a rock.)

Now, remove the soap base and shea butter from the microwave. Measure out 2 Tablespoons of Grapeseed Oil and stir into the melted soap base and shea butter mixture. Immediately measure out your salts and stir into the salt scrub base you’ve created. Mix thoroughly.

Finally, weigh out 1/2 oz. (or approximately 2 measured Tablespoons) of skin safe/cosmetic grade fragrance oil of choice and stir into your salt scrub. For this project I used a Lemongrass Sage Fragrance Oil. Alternately, you can use half the amount of your favorite essential oil in lieu of a fragrance oil.

Stir your homemade foaming salt scrub until it starts to thicken then pour it into four 4 oz. containers of your choice. (Or opt for two 8 oz. containers – one for you and one for mom!)
