DIY Father's Day Gift Idea - Homemade Six Pack of Treats for DadIf you’re looking for a homemade Father’s Day gift idea that the kids can make, then you’ve come to the right place. My son made this fun candy and treat filled six pack for Father’s Day complete with a chalkboard carrier for writing his own custom message! To create with your child for Dad, all you’ll need is a six pack of soda, chalkboard spray paint, a piece of chalk, washi tape and assorted treats like candy, nuts and whole coffee beans – whatever are Dad’s favorites.

Chalkboard Paint DIY Craft ProjectTo get started, you’ll first need to drink all of the sodas in your six pack, wash them and allow them to dry thoroughly. Be sure you keep the lids. As these come with twist off caps, you can simply twist them back on after filling your bottles. Then, once you’re ready to start, simply spray paint all sides of your soda carton with two coats of chalkboard paint. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat. My son created an easy mess free way to spray paint his container outside on the carport by using a large cardboard box as a shield.

DIY Washi Tape Decorated BottlesWhile your bottle carton is drying, you can use that time to dress up your bottles. This is so easy that kids of any age can participate. Simply wrap washi tape around the bottles or apply to bottles at random to create your own custom look.

Washi Tape DIY Craft ProjectDecorate all six soda bottles with washi tape. Once they’ve all been decorated, you’re ready to fill them up with candies, nuts or coffee beans. Be sure to pick treats or snacks that are small enough to fit through the opening of the bottle and remove without getting stuck.

Homemade Father's Day Gift Idea - DIY Washi Tape Decorated Six Pack of TreatsYou can fill the bottles in whatever way is easiest for you. You can use your hands as a funnel to pour the treats into the bottles.

DIY Washi Tape Snack BottlesOr you can use an actual funnel or – as Cody is using here – one of those reclosable soda can lid covers minus the resealable top.

DIY Father's Day Gift - Soda Bottle Six Pack Filled with Treats like Candy, Nuts and Coffee BeansOnce all of your bottles have been filled, simply twist the caps back on and place back into the chalkboard painted soda bottle carton.

DIY Washi Tape Covered Soda Bottles FIlled with Treats and Snacks for Father's DayNow all that’s left is to write your message on the outside of the chalkboard bottle carton and gift! Tip: Be sure to prime your chalkboard surface before using. Wait 24 hours before writing on the surface, then rub over the surface with the flat side of the chalk and erase before writing for best results and to keep the paint from scratching off.

Easter is on the last day of March this year and it got me thinking about my Easter basket as a child. Jelly beans, marshmallow Peeps, ginormous white chocolate bunnies – they were my favorite – and bubble gum eggs. But then I also started thinking about how little fun it can be having children who are hopped up on a sugar high for days on end. And while my son is no longer of an age to be called a child, I still wanted to share some amazing diy Easter basket gift ideas I found that are completely sugar free.

Homemade Valentine's Day Gift Ideas - Creative Ideas for Custom DIY Handmade Gifts - Hand Embroidered Paper Cards and Keepsakes
Remember those sewing card books you could buy at the grocery store when you were a kid? They had pre-punched holes to sew around colorful images with yarn and huge plastic needle. I loved those! My favorites were always the Holly Hobby ones. Well this embroidered journal page (pictured above) from One Sheepish Girl brought back those awesome memories and has me kicking myself for not picking up needles and embroidery thread when I was out at A.C. Moore on Saturday.
I love the idea of paper embroidery. It’s a great way to save your favorite memories and make a terrific keepsake to pass down through generations in your family. You could use paper embroidery to customize a blank journal to give as a gift, to create a souvenir of your relationship with someone special, or simply embroider an image onto card stock to make a lovely handmade Valentine’s Day card.

You’ll find the soy wax tart tutorial over at Zolea. (It’s in Dutch so you may have to give Google Translate a quick visit.)
