My favorite part of blogging is being able to share my homemade beauty recipes with all of you, my readers. My hope is that we can explore new ways to create beauty and skin care products together – both for fun and as a more natural alternative to commercial products. Knowing that my readers enjoy and share my homemade beauty recipes helps to keep me inspired to create more homemade beauty recipes. And hopefully my recipes in turn inspire you to make some of your own natural skin care products.

Most loved homemade beauty recipes from Soap Deli News blog. As determined by readers, these Pinterest favorite homemade beauty recipes are musts for your natural skin care routine! Learn how to make your own natural skin care recipes for homemade soaps, natural herbal salves and balms, essential oil lip balms, bath teas, sheet masks, pain relief remedies and more! The best in natural beauty and skin care that you can make at home!

I shared quite a few new natural skin care and homemade beauty recipes in 2018. And while I previously recapped my most pinned posts for 2018, they included crafts and homemaking projects in addition to my skin care, soap and beauty recipes. Surprisingly, none of those posts were actually written in 2018. Therefore, I wanted to create a second post with your most loved homemade beauty recipes from 2018.

It brings me so much joy to be able to share these beauty favorites with you once again. Every single one of these homemade beauty recipes had at least 1000 shares over the course of the year – all because of you! My number one post however, had over 12K shares this year alone. Crazy, right?! That article was for my natural shaving soap recipe. Some of the other recipes were guests posts from other beauty bloggers. These blogs included Everything Pretty and Country Hill Cottage. I’m so happy that all of you have been part of this journey that brought me to this point. Enjoy!

One of my favorite bath and body ingredients I’ve been working with lately is the cucumber hydrosol from Mountain Rose Herbs. Steam distilled from the whole fruit, their cucumber hydrosol has the most amazing refreshing, cooling and crisp aroma. It’s perfect solo as a summer body splash on hot days, or it can also be incorporated into your own homemade bath and body recipes.

I’ve previously used this hydrosol in my anti-aging cucumber eye cream recipe. This time around I used it in a divine whipped cucumber hand cream recipe. The natural fragrance of the cucumber hydrosol blends perfectly with bergamot essential oil. So my whipped cucumber hand cream is not just luxurious when massaged onto skin, but it also comes with a natural aroma worthy of its nutrient rich ingredients.

Because cucumber hydrosol, which is essentially the same thing as cucumber water, has wonderful cooling and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s also great for sunburned skin. So don’t feel like this whipped cucumber hand cream recipe is only suited for winter.

Learn more about the benefits of cucumbers in skin care here.

Additionally, the inclusion of bergamot essential oil also helps to promote skin health and hasten healing as well as reduce the appearance of scarring and hyperpigmentation. It has also been shown to lessen the sensitivity of nerves, thereby lessening pain due to sunburns or sore muscles.

Whipped Cucumber Hand Cream Recipe

© Rebecca D. Dillon

Ingredients:

1.25 oz. emulsifying wax
1 oz. cucumber seed oil
1 oz. cucumber hydrosol
1 oz. baobab oil
.75 oz. refined shea butter
.5 oz. aloe vera gel
.15 oz. stearic acid
.1 oz. pharmaceutical grade lanolin
.05 oz. bergamot essential oil
.01 oz. Germaben II (or other broad spectrum preservative)
green cosmetic mica, to suit (if desired)

Whipped Cucumber Hand Cream Recipe with Bergamot Essential Oil! This whipped cucumber hand cream recipe with bergamot essential oil is a must for anyone with dry hands. But don't be afraid to use it on other parts of the body as well. Not only does it hydrate and soothe dry skin, it can also help with sunburns and other skin care concerns.

Instructions:

Use a digital scale to weigh out the shea butter, stearic acid, emulsifying wax, lanolin and the cucumber seed and baobab oils. Combine in double boiler and heat until all of the solids have melted.

In a separate container, weigh out and combine the cucumber hydrosol and aloe vera gel. Gently heat until the liquid ingredients are about the same temperature as the wax, butter, lanolin and oils.

Remove both of the containers from heat. Then slowly pour the hydrosol and aloe mixture into the oils, mixing with an immersion or hand blender. Continue mixing for several minutes until your whipped cucumber hand cream starts to cool and thicken. (You can also use a whisk for this step if you don’t want air whipped into your hand cream.)

Now weigh out the essential oil and preservative and mix them into the hand cream. (Be sure to check the temperature of your whipped cucumber hand cream prior to adding the preservative as some preservatives must be added below specific temperatures.)

Continue mixing until the essential oil and preservative are fully incorporated into your hand cream, then spoon or pour the cream into your container(s) of choice.

Allow your whipped cucumber hand cream to set up overnight. Then it’s ready to use the next day. The final product will have a similar feel to a whipped body butter.

If desired you can also decorate your containers of whipped cucumber hand cream with washi tape for gifting.

This natural rose body balm recipe is not only super luxurious, but it only requires 3 simple ingredients to make! Crafted using tea seed oil, rose wax and shea butter, this rose body balm recipe is all natural and makes a lovely homemade gift!

Natural DIY Homemade Chocolate and Rose Hand and Body Cream Recipe - Luxurious Mother's Day Gift Idea

I know, here I am talking about chocolates and roses and Valentine’s Day has already come and gone. But I’m not talking about those chocolate and roses. Instead I’m talking about a heavenly chocolate and rose scented hand and body cream made with moisture intense coconut oil! Not only does it smell fabulous, but it’s a hundred percent natural. I also think it’d make a faboo homemade Mother’s Day gift in the near future. Read on for how to make it!

Natural Chocolate & Rose Body Cream Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. 76 degree melt point coconut oil
1 oz. argan oil
.75 oz. beeswax
.25 oz. walnut oil
.25 oz. castor oil
20 drops cocoa absolute
10 drops rose essential oil (or a blend works too!)

Instructions:

Weigh out the beeswax using a digital kitchen scale and melt either in the microwave (in a glass pyrex measuring cup) or a double boiler. Next, weigh out the remaining oils in a separate container then stir into the melted beeswax until all ingredients have melted. Add the cocoa absolute and rosewood essential oil and stir. Allow to set up almost all of the way, then mix well to incorporate the cocoa absolute back into the cream. (It sinks to the bottom when the oils are still liquid.) Finally, spoon into a 4 oz. container or evenly into two 2 oz. containers of your choice. Use as desired on hands, feet or body.

Don’t want to use walnut oil? Oils with intense healing properties like evening primrose oil, pumpkin seed oil and rosehip seed oil make great substitutes. You can also use tamanu oil – one of my favorites! – however, as it has a strong natural scent it may affect the smell of the final product slightly.

For a slightly thicker cream, try adding 1 oz. of shea butter or .5 oz. of one of the following: cocoa, kokum or illipe butter.

This is also great on lips or even as a hair mask in a pinch.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas – Birch Box’s New Limited Edition Superwoman Beauty Collection

I may receive compensation from links on this site. See my disclosure policy.

Cleopatra TOCCA Crema da Mano Luxe Hand Cream - Natural Beauty and Skin Care Hand Cream with a Fabulous Light Grapefruit and Cucumber Fragrance - Perfect for a Mother's Day GiftRecently I decided to give Birch Box a try. Based out of New York City this amazing company is perfect for anyone who loves trying out new bath and beauty products. I’d been wanting to try a sample box subscription for some time, but so many of them were out of my price range or required paying for three months or more up front. Birch Box is different. For $10 a month, billed monthly, you received a fabulous box of beauty, grooming and lifestyle samples each and every month. Samples include fragrances, skin care and bath products, cosmetics, even teas and snacks! What has me really excited about this sample program is that it includes high end brands I ordinarily wouldn’t have the chance to try due to budget restrictions. It also offers the chance to try “green” brands that are just launching.

I haven’t received my first sample beauty box yet – it’s set to arrive on Thursday – but I did order the limited edition From the Garden box they offered. It’s sold out now, but you can buy the products that were included within the box individually. My favorites from the box were the Tocca Crema da Mano Luxe, the Lafco Little Luxuries Candle Tin and L’occitane’s Thé Vert & Bigarade fragrance.

I received the Cleopatra Tocca Hand Cream (pictured above) which is a fragrant blend of grapefruit and cucumber. I immediately fell in love with the fragrance. It’s lightly scented, but smells quite lovely – crisp and fresh. What I really liked about this hand cream was that it absorbed quickly and left my hands feeling soft and smooth – almost silky in the way baby powder makes skin feel to the touch. It’s made with a combination of moisturizing oils including avocado and coconut oil, and also contains shea butter and chamomile extract. Tocca offers this cream in five signature fragrances – Cleopatra (as mentioned), Stella (blood orange), Giulietta (pink tulip and green apple), Bianca (green tea and lemon), and Florence (bergamot and gardenia). I pretty much want to try them all. Plus I love the packaging. And with Mother’s Day coming up I think these would make an excellent Mother’s Day gift as well.

I did some looking around, and Birch Box pricing is pretty much dead on with other retailers who offer their products. Minus the extra benefits that come with shopping Birch Box which include free shipping, free samples and offers from their Bonus Shop, and their rewards program.

Mint Scented Lafco Candle Tin with Matches that Fit Neatly Into the LidOne of the other products I received in my limited edition From the Garden Birch Box was this Lafco Little Luxuries Candle Tin in Mint. My favorite thing about this container is the tin it comes in. While the fragrance I received was mint, it really did not smell so much like straight mint to me, rather more of combination of mint and pine. My boyfriend thought it smelled more like pine than anything else, which was fine by him, seeing as how he prefers a more masculine scented candle so this scent made a nice compromise. Made from soy wax, this small candle has a burn time of over thirty hours. But what really does it for me is how lovely the tin itself is. Not only is it pretty to look at, but the lid has an indention on top that hold a box of matches. I thought it wa pretty genius to pair the two together. This is one tin I’ll definitely be re-using and re-purposing once the candle is gone. I may even put another candle it since I’ve been dying to try my hand at candle making at some point.

L'OCCITANE La Collection de Grasse - Thé Vert & Bigarade FragranceI also really love the sample of L’occitane’s fragrance Thé Vert & Bigarade that I received. It’s part of their new line of fragrances, La Collection de Grasse, that was inspired by its namesake town in the south of France. The four fragrances within this line are Jasmine & Bergamote, Vanille & Narcisse, Magnolia & Mûre, and Thé Vert & Bigarade. Thé Vert & Bigarade is a blend of blossoming green floral notes with earthy wood notes that reminds me of tradition. It’s not overwhelmingly floral and is almost crisp in nature. For me, it’s what a “toilet water” should smell like. That beautiful, yet expensive perfume that you coveted from your grandmother’s dresser. Traditional in a way that is classy, sophisticated, understated and timeless.
