DIY Sprayable Lotion Recipe with Shea Butter & Safflower

Sprayable Shea Butter Lotion Recipe

This sprayable lotion recipe is really easy to make, it’s not greasy feeling and it leaves your skin feeling super soft after applying. You will however need to use a refined shea butter rather than raw shea butter to ensure this stays smooth and sprayable, but you can easily customize it with the fragrance of your choice. I scented mine with one of my own favorites, Red Velvet Cake.

Ingredients:

2 oz. safflower oil
.5 oz. refined & deodorized shea butter
.1 oz. stearic acid
1 oz. Cyclomethicone
.25 oz. Dimethicone
.25 oz. rosehip seed oil
.25 oz. walnut oil
.5 oz. refined hemp seed oil
.15 oz. fragrance oil, optional

Instructions:

Begin by using a digital scale to weigh out the shea butter and stearic acid in a medium glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat in at 60% power in the microwave just until it’s almost fully melted. Carefully removed from the microwave – use a towel as the glass does get hot! – and stir with a fork until the stearic acid has melted completed.

Weigh out the remaining ingredients and combine with the melted shea butter and stearic acid. Stir well.

Using a small funnel pour the liquid lotion evenly into two 4 oz. glass bottles or three 2 oz. glass bottles with a fingertip misters. Shake well.

To use simply spray on as desired and massage into skin. Shake well before each use.

Natural DIY Mocha Coffee Whipped Body Frosting Recipe

What better way to start your week than with a scrumptious whipped body frosting recipe?

I was a bit under the weather last week with the fibro kicking my butt more so than usual so I fell behind on whipping up my own new concoctions to share with you. I do promise to make up for this week, but in the meantime I thought I’d share with you this amazing homemade whipped body frosting recipe from one of my favorite blogs, Humblebee and Me.

Made from a three butter combo, this whipped body frosting recipe gets it’s scent from natural cocoa butter and is then accented with coffee essential oil for a fragrance that is truly divine. Olive oil thins out the butters so you’re able to whip it into a “tasty” body frosting, however you could easily substitute the olive oil with a lighter and less greasy feeling oil like jojoba or fractionated coconut oil – or simply your favorite carrier oil.

And, if you’re just dying to try this but don’t have any coffee essential oil on hand, you can always infuse the olive – or other oil – with coffee like I did for my popular coffee under eye cream recipe. Click here to check out the Whipped Mocha Body Frosting Recipe at Humblebee and Me blog and enjoy!

Handmade DIY Face Cream for Men

Homemade Gift Idea for Guys - Handmade DIY Face Cream for Men

Despite many common stereotypes, a lot of men actually use skin care products on a regular basis – including face creams and lotions. A common issue I’ve heard from the men I know however, is that facial care for them are often scented too strong if they’re created specifically for men or they smell super girly if they’re not. Also that sometimes finding suitable unscented products can be a chore.

So here’s a homemade face lotion recipe just for your favorite man. It’s ever so lightly scented with a masculine fragrance, can easily be crafted in under five minutes, and is formulated to be gentle enough for faces and sensitive skin. Gift it this year as a homemade Valentine’s Day gift, a Father’s Day gift or even a Christmas stocking stuffer.

Ingredients:

4 oz. Unscented Gentle Face Cream Cosmetic Base
1 ml Happy (Type) For Men Type Premium Grade Fragrance Oil (or other skin safe masculine scented fragrance oil)

Instructions:

Using a digital kitchen scale, weigh out the lotion base into a small glass measuring cup or glass beaker. Then, using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out 1 ml of the fragrance oil – or 2ml for a stronger scent – and mix well until fragrance is fully incorporated into the lotion base.

Now simply spoon the lotion into a 4 oz. plastic container or a glass jar with lid and cap. You can label your jar with a hand drawn label for a more intimate look using a blank label sticker sheet to create your message or product label or simply dress it up a pretty strip of washi tape around the jar.
