I created my DIY dachshund magnet using the same dachshund silicone mold I used to create my darling dachshund melt and pour soaps. In addition to this mold you’ll also need some polymer clay, paints, glue and magnets.

What You’ll Need:

dachshund silicone ice cube tray
white original Sculpey oven bake clay
craft paints
craft paint brushes
clear acrylic sealer
strong magnets
E6000 glue

What to Do:

Begin by kneading the polymer clay until it’s soft and pliable. Then press the clay firmly into one of the cavities of your dachshund mold.

Allow the clay in the mold to “firm” back up for about ten to fifteen minutes, then carefully remove the polymer clay from the mold cavity.

Once you’ve removed the dachshund shaped clay from the mold, use a small amount of clay to form an ear for your dachshund. To do this, first knead the clay until soft and pliable. Then create a teardrop shape with the clay.

Press the clay onto the dachshund where his ear would be and gently shape it to look like an ear. Smooth the clay out around the base of the ear so it stays attached to the body, and press your finger into the “drop” of the teardrop shaped clay to flatten out the ear.

Now place the clay dachshund on a baking sheet in a 275°F oven for 15 minutes.

Once you’ve baked the clay, remove it from the oven and allow to cool.

Use craft paints to paint your clay dachshund as desired once the clay has cooled. I used a combination of colors so my DIY dachshund magnet would look like my own dapple colored miniature dachshund.

When the paint has fully dried, spray the magnet with a clear acrylic sealer. Allow the sealer to dry.

Now flip your clay dachshund over and adhere two magnets to his back using E6000 glue.

Once the glue dries, your dachshund magnet is ready to be displayed on your fridge or any other metal surface that your heart desires!

Easy DIY Terrarium Magnets for Your Fridge!

I’ve been trying a lot of new DIY projects out recently, some with success and some that were so dismal I hid them in my craft box afterwards. As it turns out many crafts actually do require some skill and/or practice to get them just right – even those of us who were fine art majors in college. I’ve always known I don’t have steady enough hands for making jewelry, but apparently metal stamping and glass etching are not my forte either. However, this adorable project for making your own DIY Terrarium Magnets is definitely one craft project that everyone can make regardless of whether you were born with a Mod Podge and glitter embellished silver spoon in your proverbial craft gene.

I purchased the DIY Terrarium Magnet Kit for this particular project from Darby Smart to avoid having to hunt down supplies from various sources. My handy dandy super awesome sometimes assistant, Hunter, then helped me pull it all together. Here’s how it’s done.

Easy DIY Terrarium Magnets

What you’ll need:

Sheet of Plastic Film
3 Open Faced Magnetic Tins (3.5″ diameter)
Stone White Gravel
E6000 Glue
Preserved Green Reindeer Moss
3 Air Plants
Sharpie Marker
Scissors

What to do:

DIY Terrarium Magnets - Step One

Begin by placing the lid of a magnetic tin on the plastic sheet. use a Sharpie marker to trace around both the inside and outside of the tin.

DIY Terrarium Magnets - Step One

Repeat this step for each terrarium magnet you want to make.

DIY Terrarium Magnets - Step Two

Using scissors cut the circle shapes out of the plastic sheet by cutting in between the two lines you drew for each circle. Cut the circles in half. Use the glue to glue the plastic inside the open faced lid for each tin and allow to dry.

DIY Terrarium Magnets - Step Three

Place the gravel, moss and an air plant into the base of the tin arranging the rocks on the bottom with the moss and air plant on top.

DIY Terrarium Magnets - Step Four

Now screw the lid of the terrarium onto the base so that the plastic half circle you glued to the inside of the lid covers the bottom half of the tin where the rocks and moss are.

Easy DIY Terrarium Magnets

And that’s it! Your project is complete. Now just stick your DIY terrarium magnets on your fridge or to any other metal surface you’d like so you can show them off. Be sure to keep your air plants “watered” by misting or immersing the air plants in water once a week.

You can currently buy this DIY Terrarium Magnets Kit from Darby Smart for just $19 with free shipping. It has everything you need to make three terrarium magnets to perk up your home or office decor.

How to Make Washi Tape Magnets - DIY Washi Tape Craft Project
All you need is a roll of magnetic tape, some washi tapeof your choice, and scissors. Simply cut the magnet into desired lengths and lay flat with the magnet side down. Peel off the film on the back of the magnets to reveal the sticky side, then apply strips of washi tape to the sticky side of the magnet. Trim off any excess tape and voila! You now have washi tape magnet strips. Stick them on your fridge to hold notes, artwork, coupons, and photos!

Need chip clips or note holders for your fridge or office? Then why not craft your own? Using clothespins – in your size of choice, decorative washi tape and craft store magnets, you can create your own custom clothespin magnets to match your kitchen decor! This super simple craft project takes under an hour and makes a great weekend family craft project!
To get started you will need the following supplies:

Here’s what you do:
How to Make Decorative Clothespin Magnets - An Easy Kids Craft Project for a Rainy Day
First apply strips of washi tape to your clothespins. You can use it on one or both sides. (The magnets will stay better if you leave washi tape off of the back side where you will be adhering the magnets.)

Then carefully trim the excess washi tape from the top and sides of the magnets using scissors.

Next, apply your stickers or embellishments to the front of your washi tape decorated clothespins. For ours, Meagan and I used puffy, sparkle alphabet stickers to spell out words.

DIY Washi Tape Magnets - Washi Tape Craft Project Ideas
Washi tape is useful for dressing up so many household items and craft projects. And because a little tape goes a long way, you’ll find you really get more bang for your buck by using it to craft with. One of the easiest Washi tape craft projects you’ll ever make is this one – pictured above – for DIY Washi Tape Magnetic Clips.
DIY Washi Tape Magnetic Chip Clips - Handmade Chip Clips Using Washi Tape for Decoration
For this project, I picked up a pack of four magnetic clips from Target for a dollar. (They were at the front of the store in their $1 bins.) Although you can probably find these at a dollar store as well. All I did was add a small strip of Washi tape across each magnetic clip. And voila! Plain black magnetic clips are now fun to look at! Use these clips on your fridge for notes, on the mailbox for outgoing mail, as chip clips, or whatever else you may need a clip for!
