This men's body wash recipe is perfectly suited for men who aren't a fan of traditional bar soap or want a more moisturizing product that won't leave their skin feeling stripped and tight.

This men’s body wash recipe is perfectly suited for men who aren’t a fan of traditional bar soap or want a more moisturizing product that won’t leave their skin feeling stripped and tight. Because this men’s body wash recipe uses a simple, unscented Castile liquid soap as a base for the body wash, it’s incredibly quick and easy to make. The addition of aloe vera gel, glycerin and natural carrier oils help to keep moisture locked into skin while also nourishing what is the largest organ on the human body. This men’s body wash recipe also includes one of my favorite go to ingredients – neem oil – that while optional, helps to combat body acne and other skin issues.

Ingredients:

5 oz. organic liquid Castille soap
2.5 oz. aloe vera gel
1 oz. rosehip seed oil
.5 oz. liquid vegetable glycerin
.1 oz. neem oil
3 mL skin safe masculine scented fragrance oil of choice, optional
2mL Polysorbate 20, optional

Instructions:

Using a digital scale weigh out the liquid Castile soap, aloe vera gel, rosehip seed (or other carrier) oil, vegetable glycerin and neem oil. Combine in a large Pyrex measuring cup then stir gently to mix all the ingredients.

Next, using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out your skin safe fragrance oil of choice – or optionally half the amount of essential oil – and stir into the body wash. (The fragrance oil will mask the scent of the neem oil in this men’s body wash recipe.)

Now use a clean graduated transfer pipette to measure out the Polysorbate 20. Stir into the body wash mixture. (While this ingredient is optional it will help to keep your fragrance and other ingredients evenly combined within the body wash.)

Finally, use a funnel to pour into an 8 oz. container of your choice and label as desired for personal use. Shake gently then use as you would a regular body wash! (Psst. You can find and print out the “handmade” labels featured in this post at Everything Etsy here. Bulk blank sticker labels are available for a great price at World Label.)

Homemade Father's Day Gift Idea - DIY Handmilled Seriously Sexy Soap Recipe

Need a homemade DIY Father’s Day gift idea for Dad? These scented homemade soap rounds are sure to help dad unwind in the shower! He might not tell you, but I’ve found that most men do care about their skin. However whether they’re willing to admit it or not can sometimes be an entirely different story. So treat him with these simple handmade handmilled soaps in his favorite fragrance! I scented these homemade soaps with a Very Sexy for Men fragrance oil dupe, but you can find dupes of almost every cologne – as well as bay rum – to meet your Dad’s individual taste.

Natural Homemade DIY Handmilled Soap for Men - Scented with a Designer Cologne Dupe!

Men’s Seriously Sexy Homemade Handmilled Soap Recipe

Ingredients:

23 oz.unscented cold process soap, grated
1 oz. deodorized and refined cocoa butter
1 oz. babassu oil
1 oz. grape seed oil
2.5 oz. distilled water
.85 oz. Very Sexy for Men fragrance oil*

Instructions:

I used my own unscented goat milk soap for this recipe that I grated two days after unmolding it. Fresher soap is easier to grate, however, the age of the soap isn’t super important. Using cold process handmade soap, however, is of upmost importance as typical commercial soaps aren’t really soap but are rather made of harsh foaming agents. These don’t rebatch quite the same way. (You can find my recipe for making an easy cold process goat milk soap here. To re-size the batch superfat at 6-7% with a 35% water discount.)

You’ll need a digital scale to weigh out the ingredients and a soap mold. I used the Crafters Choice™ Basic Round Silicone Soap Mold for this soap project. The final recipe will yield six round 5 oz. soap bars.

Begin by grating the unscented soap bars or loaf. Weigh out 23 oz. of soap using a digital scale and combine in a large stainless steel pot on the stove. Weigh out the water and add to the grated soap. Do the same with both the babassu oil, grape seed oil and cocoa butter. Set the heat on medium and mix, stirring occasionally.

Once the babassu oil and cocoa butter have melted, reduce the heat to warm-low and allow the soap to “cook” for a short time until it looks like it’s melting. Turn off the heat and weigh out the fragrance oil. Stir the fragrance oil into the soap until thoroughly combined then spoon the soap into your mold.

Once the soap has hardened completely, unmold the bars. If you used fresh soap allow your soap to finish curing for 3-6 weeks. If your soap was already cured, you can start using your new homemade facial soap whenever you like, however you may want to allow them to air dry for several days to a week to allow the excess water to evaporate.

Now that your homemade soaps for Dad are ready all that’s left is to package them for gift giving! Wrap each bar in foodservice film first if desired. To create the bands around the sides of the soap you’ll need one full sized sheet of brown kraft sticker paper. Turn the sticker paper over so the white side is up and place a ruler lengthwise along the paper. Starting at the edge of the sticker paper, place the ruler on the paper and draw a line on the right side of the ruler. Place the ruler so the edge is at the new line and then draw another line on the other side. Repeat until you have six strips then cut out the strips with scissors.

Turn the strips of brown kraft stickers over so they are brown side up and then place a strip of your favorite washi tape lengthwise along the sticker strip. Repeat for all six stickers.

Now simply peel the backing off the sticker paper strips and place around the soap bars.

Homemade Gift Idea for Guys - Handmade DIY Face Cream for Men

Despite many common stereotypes, a lot of men actually use skin care products on a regular basis – including face creams and lotions. A common issue I’ve heard from the men I know however, is that facial care for them are often scented too strong if they’re created specifically for men or they smell super girly if they’re not. Also that sometimes finding suitable unscented products can be a chore.

So here’s a homemade face lotion recipe just for your favorite man. It’s ever so lightly scented with a masculine fragrance, can easily be crafted in under five minutes, and is formulated to be gentle enough for faces and sensitive skin. Gift it this year as a homemade Valentine’s Day gift, a Father’s Day gift or even a Christmas stocking stuffer.

Men’s Lightly Scented Face Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

4 oz. Unscented Gentle Face Cream Cosmetic Base
1 ml Happy (Type) For Men Type Premium Grade Fragrance Oil (or other skin safe masculine scented fragrance oil)

Instructions:

Using a digital kitchen scale, weigh out the lotion base into a small glass measuring cup or glass beaker. Then, using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out 1 ml of the fragrance oil – or 2ml for a stronger scent – and mix well until fragrance is fully incorporated into the lotion base.

Now simply spoon the lotion into a 4 oz. plastic container or a glass jar with lid and cap. You can label your jar with a hand drawn label for a more intimate look using a blank label sticker sheet to create your message or product label or simply dress it up a pretty strip of washi tape around the jar.

DIY Handmade Deodorizing Cedarwood and Baking Soda Soap Recipe for Men

I have a new homemade men’s cold process soap recipe available now. You can find it exclusively in the February 2014 issue of Wholesale Supplies’ Plus eHandmade magazine (page 24.) This particular handmade soap recipe was inspired by a local restaurant owner, Hunter, who owns a fantastic little restaurant called Lucky in downtown Roanoke, VA.  It’s been one of my favorite places to eat and drink – Hunter is quite the mixologist – since it opened. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant you’re well aware of the array of odors you take home with you everyday. Not being the biggest fan of smelling like his restaurant during his off duty hours, Hunter asked me to create a deodorizing soap for him that would not only get him clean, but also wash away the smell of food and other odors you pick up in the service industry.

Natural Handmade Deodorizing Cedarwood and Baking Soda Cold Process Soap Recipe for MenMy Handmade Natural Cedarwood & Baking Soda Soap is the result of that request. I created this particular recipe to be palm free for those who aren’t able to locally source sustainable palm oil or prefer not to use it entirely. What this homemade soap does have, however, is odor zapping baking soda and cedarwood essential oil as well a touch of skin loving cocoa butter.
