Made from easily obtainable all natural ingredients, this deodorizing shoe powder recipe is kind to both your shoes and your feet. Simply sprinkle some in your shoes overnight or before wearing with – or without – socks!

This recipe yields one 7 oz. container, but you can easily double it if you want to make more – say, one for each of your little sports players!  I used the white powder sifter bottles from Nature’s Garden for this project. Not only are they relatively inexpensive – $3.99 scores you a set of ten containers – but they can easily be upcycled once they’re empty! Since they are plastic, you can simply wash, dry and re-use! (Psst. These are also perfect for those dry shampoo recipes!)

Natural Translucent Pressed Powder DIY - How to Make Your Own CosmeticsIn a previous post I gave you a simple and all natural recipe for making your own homemade loose translucent powder. However, I also wanted to share with you how you can transform that same makeup recipe into a pressed powder. Below are the ingredients you’ll need and instructions on how to make it!

Ingredients:

Finished Loose Translucent Powder (get the recipe here)
3 ml Grape Seed Oil
2 ml Clear Deodorized Jojoba Oil
2.5 ml Evening Primrose Oil
1 ml Cyclomethicone (or Cyclo-Dimethicone)

Instructions:

Divide your loose translucent powder into three separate containers, each weighing approximately 1.25 oz. For each 1.25 oz. of loose powder you wish to make into a pressed powder, use graduated plastic transfer pipettes to measure out the oils and cyclomethicone and stir into the loose powder. Mix well with a fork, then press the powder firmly into the container you will be using the pressed powder in.

Next, place the container with your pressed powder onto a cookie sheet or air bake pan and place in oven. Turn the temperature of your oven to warm – the lowest possible setting – and “bake” your pressed powder for about 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn the oven off leaving the pressed powder inside.

Once the oven cools completely, remove the pressed powder and leave open for the next 24-48 hours to complete the drying process. After such time, your pressed powder is ready to use.

This natural translucent finishing powder recipe goes on similar to a translucent fair pressed powder to help mattify shine and give your makeup a final touch. Apply over makeup and foundation or brush on alone for a natural look that helps to give the appearance of a more even skin tone.

What I really love about this natural translucent finishing powder recipe is both the simplicity and the use of flower and botanical powders from Nature’s Garden. Chamomile flower powder is great for flaky skin and wrinkles and has long been prized for its soothing, anti-inflammatory benefits while lavender flower powder is also helpful in soothing irritated skin.

Rosehip powder, which is derived from the fruit of wild roses, naturally contains high levels of vitamin C as well as vitamins E, A, and D and is prized in skincare for its antioxidants and anti-aging properties.
