DIY Halloween Pumpkin Bath Bomb Recipe

Treat yourself this fall with this easy DIY Halloween Pumpkin Bath Bomb Recipe. You’ll love the intoxicating scent of pumpkin spice from your favorite fragrance oil and the moisturizing shea butter, sesame oil and detoxifying sea salt. Plus, with a few tips you can make these perfect the very first try!

Ingredients:

13.5 oz. baking soda
8 oz. citric acid
3 oz. fine sea salt
2 oz. white kaolin (cosmetic) clay
1.5 oz. shea butter
1.5 oz. sesame oil
8 ml pumpkin or pumpkin spice fragrance oil of choice
pinch each of red iron oxide and yellow iron oxide pigment powders

Directions:

You’ll need a Wilton Silicone Leaf and Pumpkin Mold for this project. (You can also use this mold for my DIY Pumpkin Spice Air Fresheners and Pumpkin Fall Soap Recipe!) I also used a round bath bomb mold (optional.) (Note: The original Wilton leaf and pumpkin silicone mold I used for this project is not longer available online. However, they do have a great pumpkin silicone mold as well as this fun leaf and acorn silicone mold.)

Begin by using a digital scale begin by weighing all of the dry ingredients and combining them in a large glass bowl or an 8-cup Pyrex measuring cup. Mix well to combine using a fork then add a pinch each of the pigment powders. (You only need a small amount! The color comes through when you add the wet ingredients.)

In a separate container weigh out the shea butter then melt in the microwave or a double boiler. Then weigh out and add the sesame oil to the melted shea butter.

Using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out the fragrance oil and stir into the wet ingredients. Mix well.

Now slowly pour the melted shea butter and sesame oil into the dry ingredients mixing as you go. Combine thoroughly so the entire mixture is damp.

You’re now ready to use your mold(s)! This recipe yielded three pumpkin bath bombs, one leaf bath bomb and one round bath bomb for me.

To mold your bath bombs take a large scoop of the mixture and place into your first pumpkin cavity. Add more until the bath bomb mixture is piled above the shape. DO NOT press any of the mixture into the mold until you’ve done this. Now press the mixture firmly into the mold all at once. Brush away the excess.

(Pressing the bath bomb mixture into the mold in stages will cause it to separate at those points and break apart.)

Repeat with the additional cavities.

You’ll want to wait two days before unmolding these to unmold clean shapes.

To create the round bath bomb(s) overfill each half of the round bath bomb mold the same way you did the silicone mold. Do NOT press the sides into the mold halves before joining them or you’ll end up with half circle bath bombs. Now press each overfilled side of the mold halves firmly together. Brush away any excess from the edges. (I also twisted the two halves of my mold together a bit.) You can gently unmold these immediately or wait a day.

To unmold the pumpkin and leaf bath bombs I first placed a cutting board on top of the mold then gently turned them over together in order to prevent any of the bath bombs from accidentally dropping out and breaking. Then I gently pressed each bath bomb out of the cavities.

Sore muscles? Substitute the sea salt in this pumpkin bath bomb recipe with epsom salt! You can also substitute the sesame oil with any other of your favorite carrier oils!

Once your pumpkin bath bombs have dried completely, they are ready to package! Simply wrap your bath bombs in plastic food service film or shrink wrap or use them right away! To use, simply add one bath bomb to warm running bath water, allow to dissolve and enjoy!

Now use a wide paint brush to paint the fragrance oil onto the back of each of the air fresheners. (You can also use a blend of natural clove, cinnamon and ginger essential oils in lieu of the fragrance oil.) Allow to dry then repeat as desired until you reach desired strength or the air fresheners will no longer hold anymore fragrance. Now hang anywhere in your home or in your car and enjoy!

Easy Homemade Melt and Pour Pumpkin and Leaf Fall Soap Recipes

Craft your own pumpkin and leaf shaped soaps for fall with these easy melt and pour fall soap recipes! You can keep your fall soaps plain or dress them up with just a touch of bronze mica like I did with some of mine. For these two fall soap recipes you’ll need a Wilton Silicone Mini Leaf and Pumpkin Mold. You’ll also need 2lb. of a melt and pour soap base. I used a natural yogurt melt and pour soap base made with real yogurt for my fall soaps. Finally you’ll need liquid soap colors in red and yellow and fragrance oils of your choice as well as isopropyl  alcohol in spray bottle (optional) and a digital scale. Here are the recipes.
