Cranberry Chutney Homemade Solid Lotion Bar Recipe

Ingredients:

2 oz. beeswax
2 oz. cocoa butter
2 oz. mango butter
3 oz. safflower oil
.25 oz. Manuka honey
.2 oz. Cranberry Chutney fragrance oil
1/2 teaspoon red or pink oil soluble cosmetic colorant

Instructions:

Using a digital scale, begin by weighing out the beeswax, cocoa and mango butters. Heat until melted in a double boiler or at 50% power in the microwave in large glass Pyrex measuring cup. Remove from heat.

Now weigh out the safflower oil and stir into the melted wax and butters. (I chose this carrier oil for it’s soothing and moisturizing benefits but you can substitute with any other liquid at room temperature carrier oil of your choosing if desired.)

Measure and add your colorant. Whisk well to thoroughly and evenly distribute the colorant. (I used Crafters Choice™ Red Orange Oil Locking Mica Shimmer for mine. However, you can also use other cosmetic micas or even red iron oxide pigment powder. You may need to adjust the usage however based on the intensity of the color as you don’t want to see the color on your skin when applied.)

Finally weigh out both the honey and your fragrance oil and stir the lotion mixture well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. (I used this Cranberry Chutney fragrance oil from Brambleberry here, however, you can of course substitute with another cranberry fragrance oil or a completely different scent entirely!)

Now carefully pour the combined, now liquid lotion ingredients, into your containers. (I used the 1.5 oz. brown paperboard push up tubes from SKS Bottle & Packaging.) This cranberry chutney homemade solid lotion bar recipe will make six of these 1.5 oz. containers. However, if you don’t need six solid lotion bars, you can simply cut this homemade solid lotion bar recipe in half.

Allow your solid lotion bars to solidify completely. (You can speed this up by placing your lotion bars in the refrigerator. However, cooling these quickly can cause the tops to sink and a leave a small hole on the top of the lotion bar.)

This cranberry chutney homemade solid lotion bar recipe makes a wonderful last minute DIY stocking stuffer or homemade Christmas gift! Eco-friendly packaging makes it convenient and less messy while printable cranberry labels lend a personal touch.

Once your cranberry chutney solid lotion bars have completely solidified, you can cap the containers and add the cranberry stickers. (Click here to download my printable cranberry stickers I created for you.) Once you download the PDF file, print as many pages as desired onto full sheet labels. (I use the labels from WorldLabel as they have a great product in addition to great prices.) Then simply cut out the cranberry stickers and apply to your containers as desired.

Super Easy DIY Gem Bath Melts Recipe

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create a beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favor or gift. Or make DIY gem shaped solid lotion bars instead!

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts! Made primarily of moisturizing mango butter, these gem bath melts will melt in bath water or on skin at around 86°F. As they begin to melt instantly when applied to skin they can also be used as solid lotion bars. Scent however you like – I scented mine with a Champagne fragrance oil – and customize with different colors of mica for a touch of shimmer on skin and/or fine glitter for more obvious color play.

If you live in a warmer climate that won’t accommodate your gem bath melts staying solid due to the heat, then be sure to try my alternate solid lotion bar recipe instead! Read on to learn how to make your own DIY gem bath melts with my super easy bath melts recipe.

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts!

DIY Easy Gem Bath Melts Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

4 oz. refined mango butter
2.5 mL fragrance oil or 1 mL essential oil
1 teaspoon mica
pinch of fine glitter, optional

What you’ll need:

Gemstone Silicone Mold
Digital Scale
Graduated Plastic Transfer Pipettes
Glass Pyrex Measuring Cup
Microwave or Double Boiler
Measuring Teaspoon
Utensil for Stirring
Cutting Board

Instructions:

For this bath melts recipe I used Diamond Dust mica powder from Nature’s Garden and the Champagne fragrance oil from Brambleberry. However you can use your choice of mica and fragrance that fits your needs and/or color scheme. The mica will stay incorporated throughout your melted mango butter as it sets up. However, should you choose to use fine glitter keep in mind that it is heavier than mica and will sink to the bottom. The glitter really sticks to skin when you rub these onto your skin and can look fantastic if you’re going for a glittery Halloween or party look.

Using a digital scale weigh out the mango butter. Place in a glass Pyrex measuring cup and heat at 50%, stirring partially through, until melted. (Alternately you can use a double boiler.) Be sure to handle the measuring cup with a dish towel or pot holder as the glass will get hot!

Allow the mango butter to cool slightly then measure out the fragrance oil using a graduated plastic transfer pipette. Stir the fragrance into the melted mango butter.

Using a measuring spoon, measure out one teaspoon of mica and, if desired, a pinch of glitter. Stir into the melted mango butter.

Place your gems mold on a cutting board. Now use the Pyrex measuring cup to carefully pour the melted mango butter into the mold.

Pick up the cutting board with the filled diamond mold on it and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the mango butter to solidify fully – about an hour or so – before unmolding. If you try to unmold your gem bath melts and they begin to crack, they aren’t ready to be unmolded. Simply place them back in the refrigerator a little longer at which point they will pop out of the mold without cracking.

This super easy DIY gem bath melts recipe requires just a few simple ingredients to create beautiful and luxurious DIY wedding favors or homemade gifts!

Easy Gem Solid Lotion Bar Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

.8 oz. beeswax
.8 oz. cocoa butter
.8 oz. mango butter
1.5 oz. (liquid at room temperature) carrier oil of choice
.1 oz. Manuka honey or raw local honey
2.5 mL fragrance oil or 1 mL essential oil
1 teaspoon mica

Instructions:

This gem solid lotion bar recipe is easy to tweak based on the ingredients you have on hand. For the cocoa and mango butters you can opt to use all mango butter or all cocoa butter instead of both. If you don’t want to use honey – Manuka honey is well renowned for it’s anti-bacterial and healing properties – you can simply use 1.6 oz. of carrier oil instead and omit the honey.

Weigh and combine the beeswax and butters in a glass Pyrex measuring cup and heat at 50% power, stirring occasionally,  in the microwave until melted. (Alternately you can melt the ingredients in a double boiler or make your own double boiler by placing the Pyrex measuring cup on a canning ring in a pot of water on the stove.

Now weigh out the carrier oil and honey and stir into the melted butters and wax.

Follow by measuring out both the mica with a measuring spoon and the fragrance oil with graduated plastic transfer pipette and stir them into the melted solid lotion bar ingredients.

Now place the diamond gems mold on a cutting board. Fill the mold with your melted ingredients then carefully place the cutting board with the mold into the refrigerator until the lotion bars have fully hardened.

Now that you’ve made your DIY gem bath melts and/or gem shaped solid lotion bars, simply package them as desired – such as in clear cellophane treat bags tied with ribbon – and they’re ready for gifting!
