Handmade Natural Bath Melts Recipe - Wonderful Homemade Gift Idea - Bath and Body DIYSince many of you are so fond of completely natural and organic bath and beauty products, I decided to create an all natural lemon verbena bath melts recipe and a natural homemade solid sugar scrub cube recipe that doesn’t use a melt and pour soap base. These bath and body recipes feature lots of rich, skin conditioning ingredients which include cocoa butter, kokum butter, shea butter, coconut oil, and luxurious organic argan oil.

Argan oil is naturally rich in vitamin E and phenols, carotenes, squalene and fatty acids. It absorbs quickly into skin when used in bath and body applications and delivers deep hydration. If you have dry or maturing skin, then this natural bath melts recipe and solid sugar scrub cube recipe are two natural bath and body recipes you’ll definitely want to add to your to do list.

Bath and Body DIY - Natural Organic Bath Melts and Solid Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipes - Made with Rich Argan Oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Kokum Butter and Coconut OilNatural Lemon Verbena Natural Bath Melts Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

5 oz. natural cocoa butter
1.5 oz. 76° melt point refined coconut oil
.5 oz. kokum butter
.5 oz. shea butter
.5 oz. argan oil
6 ml lemon verbena essential oil or essential oil of choice (or 12 ml lemon verbena fragrance oil)

Supplies:

digital kitchen scale
large glass pyrex measuring cup
metal spoon and knife
graduated plastic transfer pipettes
two silicone flower molds
containers with lids

Directions:

Using a digital scale weigh out the cocoa butter, kokum butter and shea butter in a large glass pyrex measuring cup. Simply place the measuring cup on the scale, set to tare, then add your ingredients one at a time until the correct weight is reached.

Next, melt slowly in the microwave in 45 second increments until fully melted.

Now weigh out the coconut oil – this oil is solid at room temperature but melts at 76 degrees or when it comes in contact with skin – and stir into your butters until completely melted.

Follow by weighing the argan oil and adding it into the measuring cup. Now add your essential or fragrance oil of choice using a graduated plastic pipette to measure out the amount needed for the recipe. Stir well, then slowly pour into two silicone flower molds. I recommend placing the molds on a small cutting board or other flat surface before pouring the liquid bath melts into the molds.

Once you’ve filled the molds, place them in the freezer for about 20 minutes to allow the bath melts to solidify. Then slowly push your completed bath melts out of the molds and package in your desired containers of choice. (You can half this recipe if desired!)

DIY Natural Handmade Solid Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe - Made Without A Glycerin Melt and Pour Soap Base

Ingredients:

5 oz. natural cocoa butter
1.5 oz. 76° melt point refined coconut oil
.5 oz. kokum butter
.5 oz. shea butter
.5 oz. argan oil
8 ml lemon verbena essential oil or essential oil of choice (or 16 ml lemon verbena fragrance oil)
4 1/2 Cups white sugar

Supplies:

digital kitchen scale
large glass pyrex measuring cup
metal spoon and knife
graduated plastic transfer pipettes
four silicone flower molds
containers with lids

Directions:

Feel free to halve this recipe if desired. This is basically the same recipe as my natural handmade bath melts but with a touch more fragrance and white sugar. Because of the sugar if makes twice as much as the bath melts recipe.

To make the handmade solid sugar scrub cubes, follow the instructions for making the bath melts. However, before you place into the molds, stir in 4 1/2 cups of sugar. Next, simply scoop the sugar scrub mixture into your molds pressing into the molds as you go. Once you’ve filled a mold, use the back side of a knife to scrape the excess sugar scrub from the top of the mold and level out the cavities. Place in freezer to allow to solidify then pop out after 20 minutes or so and package!

Make these DIY Triple Butter Solid Sugar Scrub Hearts as a homemade Valentine's day gift for someone special!

Whip up these lovely heart shaped solid sugar scrubs as a homemade Valentine’s Day gift for someone special this year. Not only do they smell like spring – I scented mine with a rose & violet fragrance oil – but they are made with a trio of skin nourishing butters! And remember that heart shaped silicone mold I used for my handmade heart Valentine’s Day soaps? Well, here’s another opportunity to use your mold for something other than desserts! (Alternately you can also make smaller one-time use sugar scrub hearts with a miniature hearts silicone mold.)

Make these DIY Triple Butter Solid Sugar Scrub Hearts as a homemade Valentine's day gift for someone special!

DIY Solid Sugar Scrub Hearts Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

17 oz. sugar
2.5 oz. melt and pour soap base (of choice)
3 oz. shea butter
1/2 oz. cocoa butter
1/2 oz. mango butter
2 Tablespoons rice bran oil (or olive oil, or any carrier oil of choice)
1/2 Tablespoon aloe vera gel
1/2 mL vitamin e oil
1 Tablespoon fragrance oil or 1 1/2 teaspoons essential oil of choice (optional)
soap dye (optional)

Supplies:

Wilton 6-Cavity Silicone Heart Mold Pan or Miniature Hearts Silicone Mold
Two large glass bowls or measuring  cups
Spoon or spatula
Digital scale
Tablespoon
Graduated Plastic Transfer Pipettes

Instructions:

To create this homemade Valentine’s Day gift begin by weighing out the cocoa butter and mango butter. Place into a glass, microwave safe bowl or measuring cup (I like to use a large Pyrex measuring cup as I find the handle useful) and heat in the microwave until just melted. (Alternately you may use a double boiler.) Next, weigh out the melt and pour glycerin soap base and cut into square chunks. Add these to the bowl of cocoa and mango butter. Then weigh out the shea butter and also add to the cocoa butter, mango butter and glycerin soap mixture. Continue to microwave until ingredients have melted. Once your soap and butters have melted, remove the bowl from the microwave and stir well.

Now measure out the rice bran oil, aloe vera gel and fragrance with a Tablespoon – I used a rose & violet scented fragrance oil – and add to the bowl of butters and soap. Using a pipette, measure out the Vitamin E oil and add it to the bowl of ingredients as well.  If using a liquid soap dye, you would also add several drops at this point until the mixture reaches desired color. Mix well to thoroughly incorporate ingredients.

Now in a clean container, weigh out 18oz. of sugar then slowly pour into the soap and butter mixture. Stir well to be sure there are no remaining pockets of sugar that are not mixed in. Then slowly spoon or pour the sugar scrub mixture into your silicone molds. If you add to much you can level off the top with the back of large knife. Now carefully place the mold in the refrigerator until mixture has hardened thoroughly.

Once your hearts have solidified, simply push out of the molds and wrap tightly in plastic film. Then decorate your solid sugar scrub hearts for gift giving! I decorated mine with washi tape and bakers twine and used sticker paper to attach labels with ingredients on the bottom of the hearts.

To use, simply rub onto damp skin in the shower after you have bathed, then rinse. The sugar will gently exfoliate skin while the oils moisturize. In between uses, store in cool dry location away from water. Alternately, you may simply cut the heart into smaller pieces using a Chef’s knife and place in an airtight container. Pull out one to two cubes of the scrub to use in the shower whenever you want to give your skin some extra love! Simply crush the solid sugar scrub cubes onto your skin as the last step after you bathe but before you get out of the shower, and rinse.
