Natural ingredients matter. Whether it’s the food you eat or the beauty products you use, it’s important to know that you’re giving your body the best care possible. With Nature’s Way products from iHerb, I know I’m using ingredients that I can trust. So I recently used a collection of all natural Nature’s Way products to craft five simple, natural beauty recipes that you can make at home!

My roommate, Bambi, and I have very different views when it comes to self care. She enjoys cooking, while I enjoy crafting. We do agree on one thing though. We care for our skin using only quality, natural beauty products. Being on a budget, however, this sometimes means choosing between our favorite beauty products and our must have food supplements. With iHerb we don’t have to choose.

All of my favorite Nature’s Way ingredients are offered through iHerb. Because they’re food grade, Bambi gets to cook with whatever’s leftover. This is, of course, after I’m done getting crafty in her kitchen. It’s a win win for both of us.

While I think Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder is a tasty natural colorant for lip balms, Bambi enjoys throwing it into her red velvet cake mix for both color and a bit of extra sweetness.

I also finally got her hooked on cooking with turmeric more often. (Which I didn’t think was possible.) Nature’s Way turmeric powder makes a wonderful addition to her curry dishes. On the other hand I love using turmeric in my anti-aging skin care recipes.

I couldn’t believe how much more bright and fragrant Nature’s Way standardized turmeric powder was compared to my usual brand. It’s kind of funny because the other day I made a turmeric acne treatment stick for our adult acne. Then Bambi comes home and uses the same turmeric that evening in an amazing Egyptian dish we had for dinner.

Having never shopped online with iHerb before, I was pretty thrilled by how easy it was to register for an account. As you can sign up using one of your social media accounts, it means one less password you have to remember. I also really like that they offer multiple shipping options. Sometimes I need ingredients for my natural beauty recipes right away. So having the option for one-day delivery is a lifesaver!

In addition, iHerb sells over 400 Nature’s Way products. So it’s easy to discover new ingredients and keep everyday favorites in stock. However, I was really psyched to learn that they ship their products to over 160 countries. I know that some of my readers have had to make substitutions in my natural beauty recipes in the past. Certain ingredients aren’t always available in every country. By shopping with iHerb, you won’t have to make substitutions for any of the ingredients I use. Additionally, iHerb also offers customer support in ten different languages to make shopping for what you need even easier.

I bought all of the Nature’s Way ingredients I needed for these natural beauty recipes from iHerb. After trying Nature’s Ways products, I am blown away by the quality. So I can’t wait to create even more simple, natural beauty recipes for you all to try! (Bambi on the other hand is hard at work hunting down new dinner recipes to cook!)

2-in-1 Lip & Blush Beauty Stick Recipe

Ingredients:

3 oz. Nature’s Way Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil
2 oz. Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder
1 oz. beeswax pastilles

Instructions:

This natural 2-in-1 beauty stick is an easy and all natural way to add a touch of color to your lips and cheeks. The combination of the natural coconut smell from Nature’s Way Extra Virgin Coconut Oil combined with the sweetness from the beet root powder is guaranteed to make this your new favorite lip balm! Plus, it’s so easy to craft! As it requires just three simple ingredients, this is easily one of my favorite all-time natural beauty recipes.

To get started you will need a digital scale to weigh out the ingredients.

Begin by weighing out the extra virgin coconut oil. Heat the coconut oil in double boiler. Then weigh out and add the Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder

Stir the beet root powder into the coconut oil so it’s combined evenly throughout the melted oil.

Gently heat for an additional five to ten minutes, stirring occasionally, to infuse the color from the beet root powder into the oil.

Now strain the beet root powder from the oil using a fine mesh strainer. (This will keep your beauty stick from feeling grainy.) Return the coconut oil to the double boiler.

Next, weigh out the beeswax pastilles and combine in the double boiler with the coconut oil. Gently heat until the beeswax has fully melted, then stir well to integrate the melted beeswax with the tinted coconut oil.

Carefully pour the mixture into lip balm containers of your choice, then allow to cool before capping. (This natural beauty recipe will yield about six 2-in-1 beauty sticks depending on the size of your containers.)

To use, simply apply to lips or cheeks as desired.

Aloe Hydrating Facial  Mist Recipe

Ingredients:

3 oz. Nature’s Way Aloe Vera Leaf Juice
1 oz. witch hazel
24 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions:

With fall on the way, skin tends to dry out more often. If you have maturing skin, keeping your skin hydrated is more important than ever. An easy way to keep your skin from feeling tight and dry is to use a simple aloe hydrating facial mist. This natural beauty recipe not only hydrates skin, it also helps to keep it balanced. So this product is still super beneficial in the summer when skin tends to be oilier.

To make this recipe, simply measure out the Nature’s Way Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and witch hazel and combine in a 4 oz. mister spray bottle. Add the lavender essential oil, then shake well to mix.

To use, simply mist onto your face (and body!) as needed to soothe and refresh skin. Be sure to keep your aloe hydrating facial mist refrigerated between uses. And shake your container prior to each use.

Turmeric Acne Treatment Stick Recipe

Ingredients:

3 oz. Nature’s Way Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil
1 oz. beeswax pastilles
.25 oz. Nature’s Way Standardized Turmeric Powder
12 drops tea tree essential oil
12 drops lavender essential oil
12 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions:

Adult acne is the worst. I mean, it was bad enough when we went through puberty, right? In addition to taking a daily probiotic to help prevent acne, you can also craft this easy turmeric acne treatment stick to tackle breakouts as they happen.

You will need a digital scale to weigh out the ingredients for this recipe.

Begin by weighing out the Nature’s Way Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil and beeswax pastilles. Combine these ingredients in a double boiler then gently heat until melted.

Remove the double boiler from heat, then weigh out and stir in the Nature’s Way Standardized Turmeric Powder. Add the essential oils then mix again to evenly distribute all of the ingredients throughout the mixture.

Now pour the melted ingredients into lip balm tubes of your choice and allow to cool before capping. (This natural beauty recipe makes around six acne treatment sticks depending on the the size of your container.)

To use your turmeric acne treatment stick, simply apply as a spot acne treatment as needed.

Acne Busting Charcoal Face Mask Recipe

Ingredients:

1 oz. bentonite clay
.5 oz. Nature’s Way Coconut Activated Charcoal
.25 oz. fine sea salt
Nature’s Way Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, to suit

Instructions:

Urban living exposes our skin to a lot of toxins from industry and car pollution. You can help to counteract this, and clear your pores, using this simple charcoal face mask recipe. Not only does it help to detox skin by drawing out impurities like dirt and oil, it can also help to prevent acne.

To make this acne busting charcoal face mask recipe you’ll need to weigh out the clay, Nature’s Way Coconut Activated Charcoal and the sea salt. Combine the ingredients in a glass bowl, then mix well using a non-metal utensil to combine.

Once all of the ingredients are evenly incorporated throughout this dry face mask, empty the contents into your container of choice for storage.

When you’re ready to use your charcoal face mask, simply remove the desired amount of the dry mask from your container. Then add enough Nature’s Way Aloe Vera Leaf Juice to form a paste. Apply the mask evenly to clean skin, taking care to avoid the eye area.

Leave the face mask on for five to ten minutes, then rinse and pat dry. Follow with your favorite moisturizer.

Natural Lip Balm Recipe with Organic Essential Oils (For Less Than 50¢ Each!)

Feed your lip balm addiction with this simple natural lip balm recipe with organic essential oils. You’ll love how much money you can save just by making your own natural lip balms! In fact, you can craft my natural lip balm recipe with mostly certified organic ingredients for up to 500% less than what natural lip balms cost in stores!

Essential Oils Natural Lip Balm Recipe with Ginger & Cardamom. Feed your lip balm addiction with this simple natural lip balm recipe with organic essential oils. You'll love how much money you can save just by making your own natural lip balms!

Everyone loves lip balm. And it seems we can never have just one. No longer reserved just for winter months, lip balms have become a year round staple. So whether you have chapped lips from excess sun exposure, wind burns or they’re suffering from drying, long lasting matte lip sticks, you need those lip balms!

I seem to always be losing lip balms. And since I never know when I’ll need one, I always have extras stashed away. Of course in the summer I always forget and leave my natural lip balms in my car. Which in turn leads to a melty mess. So I replace that lip balm (with no clue how half of it magically disappeared from the tube) only to have the same thing happen to me again. And of course, I always forget about them in pockets (they occasionally get washed) or lose them in the bottom of my purse or backpack.

Save Money With This Natural Lip Balm Recipe!

Replacing lip balms however can get expensive fast. Many natural lip balms, like the EOS brand lip balm, cost $3 or a more each. By making your own organic natural lip balms however, you can easily create a dozen natural lip balms for a fraction of the price.

I purchased the ingredients for my natural lip balm recipe with organic essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. Based on their current pricing structure, I was able to make my natural lip balms for about 23¢ each sans packaging. In most cases, your cost for packaging your lip balms will double the unit price.

This lip plumping lip balm recipe gives lips a zing of clove essential oil to help plump lips with the added bonus of bronze brown shimmery tint!

While slide tins do tend to cost more, you can buy a case of 24 slide tins from SKS Bottle & Packaging for about 60¢ each. Based on my natural lip balm recipe making eight .25 oz. lip balms, packaging your natural lip balms in slide tins will cost about 83¢ each.

However, if you decide to fill .15 oz. traditional white lip balm tubes, like those from Mountain Rose Herbs, this natural lip balm recipe actually makes thirteen homemade lip balms! These tubes run around 22¢ each (for a case of 50.) Therefore you can make thirteen tubes of natural lip balm recipe for around 46¢ each. Buying your own natural lip balms would cost you six times as much!

(Please note that none of my calculations include shipping costs as this can vary drastically from state to state. While others may choose to buy locally.)

Shop my favorite natural makeup, beauty & skin care products!

While a baker’s dozen of natural lip balms may seem like a lot, they do have a long shelf life. Plus, how many times has your son or daughter lost that new tube of lip balm you just bought? So rest assured, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of uses for your lip balm bounty.

I find that my friends and co-workers appreciate it when I have an extra tube of lip balm handy. Plus these natural lip balms are also great party favors as well as stocking stuffers during the holiday season. Even better, you can use the leftover ingredients to make even more lip balms! (I have a ton of homemade lip balm recipes!)

Alternately, these ingredients are also common natural ingredients in both homemade soap recipes as well as bath and beauty recipes such as body butters and hair masks.

So lips not only feel great, they look smoother and healthier reducing your chance of chapped lips from overuse of long wear lipsticks.

I LOVE long lasting liquid matte lipsticks! They are perfect for evenings out because I don’t have to worry about my lipstick coming off an hour into drinks. Unfortunately my lips don’t love them quite as much. That staying power comes with a consequence – dry lips. So to keep my lips looking their best despite my liquid matte lipstick obsession, I created a tinted moisture whip lip recipe.

This tinted moisture lip whip recipe protects, smoothes and nourishes dry, thirsty lips while also adding healthy looking color. Use this moisture lip whip to keep lips in tip top shop in between those days you can’t live without all day lip coverage. You’ll find that your lips survive your long wearing lipstick better. And, if your lips are already chapped, you’ll notice smoother lips instantly!

1/2 teaspoon raspberry red mica powder (or lip safe mica color of choice)

Whisk the moisture lip whip with a fork to fully incorporate the mica powder, then pour into your container(s) of choice. To use your moisture lip whip, simply apply to lips as desired. For extremely dry or chapped lips, apply a lip scrub beforehand to remove excess dry skin.

Plant based makeup is the new trend. However, you don't have to spend a fortune investing in premiere brand natural cosmetics to get it. Instead, try making your own! Simply start with a few natural ingredients and add micas to create your own custom colored makeup sticks!

Frosty Toasted Marshmallow Tinted Lip Balm Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

.3 oz white cosmetic beeswax
.3 oz. dark cocoa butter wafers
.25 oz. refined coconut oil
.15 oz. sweet almond oil
3 mL chocolate mint flavor oil
1 Tablespoon bronze brown mica (or similar)
1 Tablespoon Diamond Dust mica (or similar)

Instructions:

To make these tinted lip balm recipes you’ll need a digital scale to weigh out ingredients as well as your choice of lip balm pots, tubes or tins along with a graduated plastic transfer pipette to measure out the essential oil and flavor oils. You’ll also need measuring spoons for the mica.

For each lip balm recipe, separately weigh out the beeswax and butters and combine in a double boiler. Heat until melted. Then weigh out the carrier oils and stir into the melted beeswax and butter blend. Remove from heat. (I suggest making these one at a time and not trying to do them all at once. You might drive yourself crazy otherwise.)

Using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out the essential oil or flavor oil you are using  and stir into the melted wax, butter and oils.

Then, using measuring spoons, measure out the micas and whisk into the melted lip balm base.

Allow the melted lip balm to cool slightly, then mix again.

Pour your tinted lip balms into your containers of choice, one at a time, remixing the base after each pour, then set aside to cool.

Ingredients:

.7 oz. sweet almond oil
.3 oz. castor oil
.2 oz. refined shea butter
.6 oz. white cosmetic beeswax
.1 oz. lanolin
1.5 mL clove bud essential oil
1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Copper Penny Mica Powder (or lip safe bronze mica)

 Instructions:

To make this tinted lip plumping lip balm recipe you’ll need a digital scale to weigh out ingredients as well as your choice of lip balm pots, tubes or tins along with a graduated plastic transfer pipette to measure out the essential oil and measuring spoons for the mica. For this project I used 1/4 oz. clear glass thick wall jars with lined black dome lids from Container & Packaging Supply.

Weigh out the beeswax and shea butter into a double boiler. Heat until melted. Then weigh out the lanolin and stir into the melted wax and butter until melted. Do the same with the sweet almond and castor oil, then remove from heat.

Using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out the clove bud essential oil and stir into the melted wax, butter and oils.

Then, using measuring spoons, measure out the mica and whisk into the melted lip balm base.

Allow the melted lip balm to cool slightly, then mix again.

Pour the liquid plumping lip balm into your lip balm containers one at a time, remixing the base after each pour, then set aside to cool.

Once your lip balms have fully set up, screw on the caps and label as desired.

Like this recipe but don’t want to use clove bud essential oil? You can substitute the clove bud essential oil with another essential oil of your choice. Alternately you can add 3 mL of flavor oil.

If you don’t want to use lanolin, there’s not really a like substitute that will perform or feel exactly the same. However, you can substitute the lanolin with either shea butter or coconut oil or a heavy oil like avocado, olive or shea nut oil without having to change the amounts needed for my lip plumping lip balm recipe.
