Custom Scented Perfume Recipe for “You’re Scent-sational!” Printable Valentines

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

.5 oz Cyclomethicone
.12 oz. fractionated coconut oil
.05 oz. fragrance oil of choice

Instructions:

This custom scented perfume recipe will yield four 4mL perfumes for a total of four “You’re Scent-sational!” printable Valentines. The usage rate of the fragrance oil for this perfume recipe is 8%. Therefore you’ll need to choose a fragrance oil that is safe at 8% when used in perfumes. Typically you can refer to the manufacturer or supplier for this information. For some fragrance oils, you can use an even higher percentage fragrance if desired for a stronger, longer lasting scent.

To create more than four custom scented perfume printable Valentines, simply double or triple the recipe as needed. For smaller amounts and depending on the scale you are using, you may need to convert the ounce measurement to a gram, which is a much smaller unit of measure.

For this customer scented perfume recipe I used a Rose Cognac Sugar fragrance oil. You can safely use up to 33% of this fragrance in your perfume spray recipe if desired. I also really like this Chocolate Orchid fragrance oil for this recipe, however, you’ll need to reduce the amount of fragrance oil to .03 oz. (5%) with this scent.  (If you prefer to use essential oils, use half the amount.)

Using a digital scale, weigh out all of the ingredients and combine in a glass container. Stir well to combine, then using a transfer pipette, evenly fill four 4mL glass vials with sprayers. You can buy these containers in bulk at SKS Bottle & Packaging where I found mine.

Tightly screw the sprayer cap onto each vial.

Now download and print the PDF for my printable Valentines here. You should print your Valentines onto cardstock paper.

This printable Valentine’s Day card features clip art from Old Cauldron Design, specifically from this Valentine’s Day collection. If you prefer to use a different clip art image, simply purchase the clip art you’d like to use and follow my tutorial for creating custom soap labels. It’s the same concept, only the sizes and paper type used are different.

Once you’ve printed out the desired number of printable Valentines onto cardstock, place a perfume vial onto the Valentines. Use a exacto knife to cut two small slits on either side of the vial. Now push ribbon through the slits on either side from the back of the Valentine and tie the ribbon on the front of the card around the perfume vial. Repeat for each Valentines you’re creating.

All that’s left is to gift your Valentines to your best friends and other favorite people!

Use Shawn, our poppy polish, to fill in around the nail around the tape. Let dry, then use the Creativity Kit dotting tool or a toothpick to make white dots using Brigitte.

Ingredients:

7 oz. clear melt and pour soap base
1/4 square black glitter color bar or similar soap colorant
.1 oz. fragrance oil of choice
neon pink pleasures soap color bar or similar soap colorant
natural white melt and pour soap base

Tools and Supplies:

digital scale
Wilton Easy Flex Heart 24-Cavity Silicone Mold
spray bottle with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
utensils for stirring
measuring spoon
cutting board
large glass Pyrex measuring cup
microwave

Learn how to make these fun DIY Joan Jett inspired Black Heart Valentine's Day Soaps featuring black heart soaps with pink "icing!" These make wonderful DIY Valentine's Day gifts for your besties.

Instructions:

This recipe for black heart Valentine’s Day soaps yields seven heart shaped guest soaps.

Using a digital scale weigh out 5.6 oz. of clear melt and pour soap base for your heart shaped Valentine’s Day soaps. Cut into chunks and place in a large glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between heatings, until melted. Don’t allow the soap to boil.

Cut off about a quarter of a square of the black glitter color bar and mix into the melted soap until it has melted fully and is evenly incorporated throughout the soap base.

Now weigh out the fragrance oil you want to use to scent this soap, and stir into the melted soap base. (I used a Rose Cognac Sugar fragrance oil.)

Place your silicone mold onto a cutting board for easy transport.

Next, pour the melted soap base for your black Valentine’s Day soaps evenly into seven of the heart shaped cavities of your silicone mold. Spritz the tops with alcohol to remove any air bubbles, then transport to the refrigerator until the soaps have solidified completely.

Now prepare the “icing” for your black heart Valentine’s day soaps.

Weigh out 1.4 oz. of your clear melt and pour soap base in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. (I use a natural soap base here as it cools and solidifies faster than a basic glycerin soap base with SLS.) Heat in the  microwave for 20-30 seconds, then remove and stir. Add a small amount of the Neon Pink Pleasures soap color bar to suit and mix until completely dissolved. Allow to cool slightly.

Now remove the heart shaped soaps from the refrigerator. Unmold and place them top up onto a cutting board or a cookie sheet. Now slowly pour the pink soap base across the tops of the cold soaps in small lines until you have reached your desired look.

Now cut a small chunk of white melt and pour soap base and add to the pink base. Heat again to melt and stir to fully incorporate the color. Again pour the, now somewhat lighter, pink soap base across the tops of the cold soaps in small lines until you have reached your desired look over top of the soap you previously poured.

Repeat the previous step for a third layer of even lighter colored pink icing.

Allow your black heart Valentine’s Day soaps to cool and harden completely, then remove from the working surface and wrap tightly in food service film. Your DIY Joan Jett inspired black heart Valentine’s day soaps are now ready to gift!

This bath melts recipe is super easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Plus, you can use the same heart shaped mold to make several of my other DIY Valentine's day gifts.

Instructions:

This truffle bath melts recipe will yield four bath melts.

Using a digital scale, begin by weighing out the cocoa butter into a large glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat at reduced power in the microwave until it has melted completely. (Alternately you can use a double boiler.)

Now use the measuring spoon to measure out a half teaspoon of the unsweetened cocoa powder. (You can use a full teaspoon of cocoa powder if desired for darker truffle bath melts and more chocolate scent.) Whisk into the melted cocoa butter using a fork or whisk until the cocoa powder has been fully incorporated and is free of any clumps.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly then weigh out the fragrance oil and add to the mixture. Mix well.

Next, place your heart mold onto a cutting board or small cookie sheet for easy transport.

Then pour the melted bath melts mixture evenly into four of the cavities of your heart silicone mold.

Using the cutting board for stability, transfer your mold to the refrigerator. Refrigerate your Valentine’s truffle bath melts until they’ve completely solidified.

Now prepare the “icing” for your truffle bath melts.

Weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. (I use a natural soap base here as it cools and solidifies faster than a basic glycerin soap base with SLS.) Heat in the  microwave for 20-30 seconds, then remove and stir. Allow to cool slightly.

Now prepare your pink “icing.” In the same container you used for the white “icing” weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base. Heat in the microwave 20-30 seconds until melted. Now add a pinch of colorant, if using a pigment powder for color, or a few drops of a liquid soap colorant to the melted soap base until you reach desired color. Stir well so the color is completely mixed into the soap base.

Now slowly pour the pink tinted soap base across the tops of the cold bath melts in small lines until you have reached your desired look. (The pigment I used for my truffle bath melts faded to more of a coral color so be sure to check with the manufacturer or company you purchase your soap colorants from to see if they fade or the colors morph in melt and pour soap.)

I used a fantastic spice gingerbread spice blend that I received in my December spice shipment from Raw Spice Bar. It contains ingredients like mace, green cardamom, star anise & black peppercorns to help get circulation going. (However, you can substitute with your own gingerbread spice blend.)

Raw Spice Bar is a monthly spice “box” that ships three fantastic, gourmet spices to your door monthly for just $6. Included with your spices are some really wonderful recipes that you can use your spices in. The gingerbread spice blend I used is from their December Norwegian Spice Box that also included Gravlax spices and winter herbs along with recipes for Nordic Gravlax with Caraway & Coriander, Potato Herb Gratin and Nordic Ginger Cookies. (You can sign up for the Raw Spice Bar monthly box here. Or simply visit their website to see all of their past spice offerings and view their recipes.)
