This Valentine's truffle bath melts recipe makes wonderful heart shaped DIY Valentine's Day gifts for your special Valentine that smell like chocolate and roses! This bath melts recipe is super easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Plus, you can use the same heart shaped mold to make several of my other DIY Valentine's day gifts.

Instructions:

This truffle bath melts recipe will yield four bath melts.

Using a digital scale, begin by weighing out the cocoa butter into a large glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat at reduced power in the microwave until it has melted completely. (Alternately you can use a double boiler.)

Now use the measuring spoon to measure out a half teaspoon of the unsweetened cocoa powder. (You can use a full teaspoon of cocoa powder if desired for darker truffle bath melts and more chocolate scent.) Whisk into the melted cocoa butter using a fork or whisk until the cocoa powder has been fully incorporated and is free of any clumps.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly then weigh out the fragrance oil and add to the mixture. Mix well.

Next, place your heart mold onto a cutting board or small cookie sheet for easy transport.

Then pour the melted bath melts mixture evenly into four of the cavities of your heart silicone mold.

Using the cutting board for stability, transfer your mold to the refrigerator. Refrigerate your Valentine’s truffle bath melts until they’ve completely solidified.

Now prepare the “icing” for your truffle bath melts.

Weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. (I use a natural soap base here as it cools and solidifies faster than a basic glycerin soap base with SLS.) Heat in the  microwave for 20-30 seconds, then remove and stir. Allow to cool slightly.

Now remove the bath melts from the refrigerator. Unmold and place them top up onto a cutting board or a cookie sheet. Now slowly pour the white soap base across the tops of the cold bath melts in small lines until you have reached your desired look.

Now prepare your pink “icing.” In the same container you used for the white “icing” weigh out .5 oz. of your natural white melt and pour soap base. Heat in the microwave 20-30 seconds until melted. Now add a pinch of colorant, if using a pigment powder for color, or a few drops of a liquid soap colorant to the melted soap base until you reach desired color. Stir well so the color is completely mixed into the soap base.

Now slowly pour the pink tinted soap base across the tops of the cold bath melts in small lines until you have reached your desired look. (The pigment I used for my truffle bath melts faded to more of a coral color so be sure to check with the manufacturer or company you purchase your soap colorants from to see if they fade or the colors morph in melt and pour soap.)

Now carefully remove your Valentine’s truffle bath melts from your working surface and package as desired.

To use, simply add one truffle bath melt to warm running bath water or massage onto skin in the shower or bath after bathing, rinse lightly and pat dry.

These DIY conversation heart soaps are so easy to make and make lovely homemade Valentine's Day gifts! Made from a melt and pour soap base, these conversation heart soaps can be made in an afternoon and ready to gift the same day. Simply package them in a plastic jar, wrap each soap individually or gift them inside candy treat bags.

Instructions:

This conversation heart soap recipe yields four guest sized soap hearts.

Begin by using a digital scale to  weigh out 3.5 oz. of your white soap base. Cut into square chunks and place into a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat in the microwave in 20-30 second increments until melted, stirring in between heating. Keep a close eye on your soap and be careful not to let it boil.

Now add a small section – 1/4 of 1/2 – of one of the squares of your soap color bar and stir until it melts completely. Start with a small amount at first and add more color only until you reach the desired color. (The white soap base is used to give your conversation hearts soaps a pastel look. If you prefer not to have pastel conversation heart soaps, use a clear melt and pour soap base instead.) Alternately, you can use any other skin safe soap colorant of your choice.

Now weigh out the fragrance oil you want to scent your soaps. (If you prefer to use essential oils, use half the amount.) Stir the fragrance into the soap base.

Simply package them in a plastic jar, wrap each soap individually or gift them inside candy treat bags.

Now pour the soap evenly into four of the heart shaped cavities of your silicone mold. Spritz the tops of the soap with rubbing alcohol to remove any air bubbles.

Now repeat the same process with any additional colors you’d like to use.

Allow your conversation heart soaps to cool completely before removing them from the mold. (You can speed up the process by placing the mold onto a cutting board before you pour the soaps, then easily transfer it into the refrigerator once all of your soaps have been poured.)

Simply package them in a plastic jar, wrap each soap individually or gift them inside candy treat bags.

While you are waiting for your soaps to harden in the mold you can test stamping mica onto a plain piece of soap. Simply tap a small amount of mica – I used a bronze and Diamond dust micas – and spread it evenly into the lid of the mica jar or onto a paper plate or other flat surface. Then press the alphabet stamp into the mica to coat the stamp. Now simply press the stamp into the soap base to leave behind an imprint.

Millennium Falcon Star Wars Jelly Soap Recipe

© Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen

Ingredients:

1 1/2 packages of Knox unflavored gelatin
2.5 oz. water (1/3 Cup)
5 oz. Dr. Bronner’s unscented liquid Castile soap (2/3 Cup)
.15 oz. fragrance oil of choice
black iron oxide pigment powder
white high glitter mica powder
red iron oxide pigment powder or rose red or pink mica (for hearts)

Supplies:

Star Wars silicone ice cube tray
Wilton Easy Flex Heart 24-Cavity Silicone Mold (for hearts)
large glass Pyrex measuring cup
spray bottle with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
cutting board
olive or vegetable oil
digital scale
sauce pan
spatula

Instructions:

To make your Millennium Falcon Star Wars jelly soaps, begin by very lightly greasing the insides of your Millennium Falcon mold cavities with either olive or vegetable oil. I did this by pouring a very small amount onto a washcloth and then rubbing it evenly all over the inside of the mold cavities. You should not have pools of oil in the mold, only a very fine film coating the insides of the cavities.

Further prepare your mold by lightly dusting the inside of the mold cavities with white or pearl mica. To do this, I took a pinch of mica with my fingers and sprinkled it into the mold. Repeat for each mold. Now hold the Star Wars mold over the sink and blow across the mold cavities to distribute the mica randomly across the inside of the mold. This will give the exterior of your Millennium Falcon Star Wars jelly soaps a metallic look.

Place the mold on a cutting board.

Now you’re ready to make your Star Wars jelly soap recipe.

Using a digital scale, weigh out the liquid Castile soap into a large glass Pyrex measuring cup. (Alternately measure out 2/3 Cup of liquid Castile soap.) Set aside.

Now weigh out the water. (Or measure out 1/3 Cup of water.) Pour the water into a small saucepan and place on the stove top over medium heat.

Once the water just starts to boil remove from heat. Add a pinch of black oxide pigment powder and the Knox gelatin. Using a spatula, stir until the gelatin dissolves completely and the pigment is evenly distributed throughout the water.

Now pour the gelatin into the liquid soap and mix well to thoroughly incorporate the gelatin with the liquid Castile soap.

If you are using an unscented Castile liquid soap, then you would weigh out your fragrance oil of choice at this point and stir it into the soap jelly recipe mix. (Alternately, you can use a scented Castile liquid soap and omit the fragrance oil.)

Now pour the jelly soap into the Millennium Falcon mold cavities. Any leftover soap can be poured into the X-Wing cavities or other prepared Star Wars silicone mold of choice. (Buy a collection of seven different silicone Star Wars soap molds here and save over buying them individually. Shipping is free if you’re an Amazon Prime member. If you’re not an Amazon Prime member you can sign up here.) Spritz the tops of the jelly soaps you just poured with alcohol to remove any air bubbles.

Now place the mold and cutting board – the cutting board will provide stability for your mold so the jelly soap doesn’t spill out – in the refrigerator.

Leave in the refrigerator for several hours to overnight.

This Star Wars Jelly Soap Recipe features miniature Millennium Falcons and heart shaped jelly soaps. These make wonderful DIY Valentine's Day gifts for any Star Wars fan! Plus they're really easy to make and require minimal ingredients.

Now gently unmold the Millennium Falcon Star Wars jelly soaps by slowly pushing the mold cavities from the bottom and turning about halfway inside out.

This Star Wars Jelly Soap Recipe features miniature Millennium Falcons and heart shaped jelly soaps. These make wonderful DIY Valentine's Day gifts for any Star Wars fan! Plus they're really easy to make and require minimal ingredients.

Store your jelly soaps in the refrigerator until ready to use. Then simply remove one jelly soap and use to bathe as you would with any regular bar soap. If you need you jelly soaps to hold up outside of the fridge, simply increase the amount of gelatin used. How much you need may vary based on temperatures in your area and other factors. This easy jelly soap recipe makes heart shaped jelly soaps for unique DIY Valentine's Day gifts.

Valentine’s Day Heart Jelly Soap Recipe

To make the heart shaped jelly soaps, follow the same jelly soap recipe that you used for the Star Wars jelly soaps.

Lightly grease the inside of nine of the heart shaped cavities in your Wilton heart silicone mold and place the mold on a cutting board.

When it’s time to add the colorant, you’ll omit the black oxide pigment powder and instead add a pinch of your choice of red iron oxide pigment powder or a pink mica of your choice.

Once you’ve mixed your jelly soap, pour it into the heart shaped cavities.

Now refrigerate the heart shaped jelly soaps for several hours to overnight.

Now unmold the heart shaped jelly soaps and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

This easy jelly soap recipe makes jiggly heart shaped jelly soaps for unique DIY Valentine's Day gifts.

Need packaging ideas for your jelly soaps?  Simply layer your jelly soap hearts in a small glass canning jar with small squares of wax paper in between each of the jelly soaps.

Feel free to try this jelly soap recipe with other small silicone molds in fun shapes. I found that the thick, hard molds make the jelly soaps extremely difficult to get out in one piece. So use a silicone mold that’s a little on the flimsy side.
