DIY Anti-Aging Under Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid

My DIY anti-aging under eye cream with hyaluronic acid hydrates skin, improves elasticity and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

My DIY anti-aging under eye cream with hyaluronic acid will leave your skin feeling soft and nourished while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Like one of my previous skin care recipes for my palmarosa lime body balm, my DIY anti-aging under eye cream is also formulated with oat butter. Oat Butter is a soothing blend of rich, silky oat oil and hydrogenated vegetable oil that yields a dense viscosity and smooth texture. It’s well suited for dry, flaky skin as well as those with skin sensitivities.

I left my DIY anti-aging under eye cream recipe unscented so as not to add any additional ingredients that may be a source of allergies for those with sensitive skin. The final product will leave your skin feeling so soft and smooth that’s it’s sure to become a favorite!

Ingredients:

3 oz. oat butter
.1 oz. macerated carrot carrier oil
.1 oz. cucumber seed carrier oil
.2 oz. rosehip seed oil
.3 oz. emulsifying wax
.1 oz. isopropyl myristate
.05 oz. xanthan gum
.05 oz. dimethicone
1/4 teaspoon pure hyaluronic acid serum powder

Instructions:

You will need a digital scale to weigh out all of the ingredients except for the hyaluronic acid powder. For that you will need a quarter teaspoon measuring spoon. I recommend this Baker’s Math Scale if you plan to make a lot of bath, body or soap recipes.

Begin by weighing out the emulsifying wax into a glass pyrex measuring cup. Heat until melted either in the microwave at 50% power or in a double boiler.

Weigh out and add the oat butter to the melted wax.

Reheat until the oat butter has melted.

Next, weigh out the xanthan gum and stir into the melted butter and wax mixture until it has dissolved.

Now weigh out the remaining carrier oils – macerated carrot, cucumber seed and rosehip seed oil – and stir into the previously heated ingredients. Mix well.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly then weigh the dimethicone and the isopropyl myristate and stir in. Follow with a measured quarter teaspoon of the pure hyaluronic acid serum powder. Mix well. Then place the DIY anti-aging under eye cream in the refrigerator to cool.

Once the liquid anti-aging under eye cream just starts to turn cloudy and opaque, remove it from the refrigerator.

Then, using a whisk attachment on your stick blender, whisk the cream on low until it thickens.

Now use a small spatula to “spoon” your DIY anti-aging under eye cream into two 2 oz. straight sided amber glass jars with black phenolic lined caps. I got mine from SKS Bottle & Packaging here.

Finally, simply screw on your lids and label as desired for personal use or gifting!

To use apply to clean skin under your eyes daily at night or during the day under makeup!

If you plan to sell your DIY anti-aging under eye cream, you’ll need to follow FDA guidelines for labeling your product. If you’re unsure about the rules and regulations regarding labeling cosmetics, I highly recommend the book, Soap and Cosmetic Labeling: How to Follow the Rules and Regs Explained in Plain English, by Marie Gale.

For under eye cream when do you add the isopropyl myristate?

You can add it with the carrier oils or when you add the dimethicone.

    Are the results noticeable?

For me it was. It definitely helped to reduce the appearance of fine lines as well as my store bought cream.
