While fractionated coconut oil is often used in dry oil formulations, a lot of people with sensitive skin find coconut oil drying or irritating. Because of this, I chose to formulate my scented DIY dry oil body spray with camellia (tea) seed oil instead of coconut oil.

Like fractionated coconut oil, camellia seed oil is liquid at room temperature and has a long shelf life. When used in skin care applications, camellia seed oil can help to improve both the tone and texture of skin as well as reduce the appearance of aging. Camellia seed oil is also wonderful for hydration and is quickly and easily absorbed so that skin feels silky smooth, not greasy.

This DIY dry oil body spray is super easy to make and it’s perfect to gift for Mother’s Day. I’ve even included printable labels to make gifting even easier! Ingredients:

2.5 oz. camellia seed oil
.75 oz. rosehip seed oil
.5 oz. jojoba oil
.1 oz. babassu oil
.1 oz. skin safe fragrance oil

Instructions:

You will need a digital scale to weigh out the ingredients for my DIY dry oil body spray. In addition, you will also need two 2 oz. amber PET Boston round bottle with a smooth black fine mist sprayer. You can find the same bottles with sprayers that I used at SKS Bottle & Packaging.

If you have leftover tea infused camellia seed oil from my coffee & black tea under eye cream recipe, you can use that in place of regular camellia seed oil.

To create your DIY dry body oil spray, begin by weighing out all of the ingredients into a glass Pyrex measuring cup or similar.

Mix well to combine.

Then, using a small funnel, evenly fill both containers with the dry oil body spray.

Cap the lids on tightly, then download the labels for your DIY dry oil body spray here.

Print the labels onto a full size label sheet. Then cut out the labels individually and apply to your bottles. (If you’d like die-cut sticker labels that don’t require any cutting, I recommend checking out the label options at StickerYou. StickerYou allows you to custom design your own labels, that they then print and cut for you to save time!)

That’s it! Your scented DIY dry oil body spray is now ready for personal use or gifting! To use, simply spray onto clean skin and massage in.

Alternately, if you plan to sell your coffee & black tea under eye cream, you’ll need to follow FDA guidelines for labeling your product. If you’re unsure about the rules and regulations regarding labeling cosmetics, I highly recommend the book, Soap and Cosmetic Labeling: How to Follow the Rules and Regs Explained in Plain English, by Marie Gale.
