Natural Lip Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
.3 oz. (9 grams) refined and deodorized shea butter
4 drops essential oil(s) of choice
Instructions:
Using a digital kitchen scale weigh out the shea butter in a small glass beaker or glass Pyrex measuring cup. Heat in the microwave just until melted, then add four drops of essential oil, stir and pour into a 1/3 oz. (10 gram) container or lip balm pot. Allow to set up completely. (You can speed up this process by putting it in the refrigerator.)
Need essential oil suggestions? For my lip butter I used three drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil and 1 drop clove essential oil. But you can also try three drops of lavender essential oil and 1 drop peppermint essential oil or even two drops peppermint essential oil and two drops spearmint essential oil. Or go solo with four drops of wintergreen essential oil. You can also try something a little more exotic like cardamom and basil essential oils! Have fun with it and mix and match your favorite oils! (Buy trusted organic essential oils here.)
Want to give a your natural homemade lip butter a bit more lip loving pizazz? Try adding a few drops of carrot seed essential oil, prized for its skin rejuvenating properties, or even a few drops of certified GMO free vitamin E.
