Eco-Friendly Swiffer Alternatives

The Swiffer Wet Jet is great for cleaning, especially when compared to the traditional mop and bucket. However, disposable, single use cleaning pads aren’t eco-friendly. They’re also rather expensive to keep buying over and over.

I remember when I first invested in buying all fabric napkins and gave up paper towels entirely. My friends thought I was crazy for giving up paper towels. However, I adapted quite easily to switch. Not only was i able to reduce the waste in my kitchen, I saved a ton of money by eliminating the need for this single paper product. (And I didn’t miss paper towels at all!) I simply threw my cloth napkins into the wash with my towels and reused them again and again.

Benefits of Turbo Mops Reusable Microfiber Mop Pads

There are so many reasons to love Turbo Mops reusable microfiber mop pads. When I tried them out the first time, I was so impressed that I immediately made plans to buy more. Here are the reasons why I love these reusable pads as an eco-friendly Swiffer alternative to single use, disposable pads.

  • For starters, reusable microfiber mop pads are eco-friendly. Because you wash and reuse them after each use, rather than tossing them in the bin, you’re reducing waste.
  • Secondly, they save you money. If you’re trying to cut back on expenses, this is a great place to start, as you aren’t buying the same products over and over again.
  • Third, these microfiber pads actually clean BETTER than the Swiffer Wet Jet mop pads. I was shocked by how much dirt and grime they picked up off the floor. They even picked up dog hair along the way! I saw a huge difference in their ability to better clean my floors.

  • They’re easy to clean. Simply throw your reusable microfiber pads into the washing machine with your towels when you wash a load.
  • The Turbo Mops microfiber pads are compatible with your Swiffer Wet Jet as well as other similarly styled mops. Simply attach and go about cleaning your floors as you normally would. You’ll see the difference immediately!

I love my Swiffer, but I hate tossing the pads. These are awesome! Thanks for the cleaning recipe too!

Do you find that any of the ingredients in your Wet Jet alternative cleaning solutions can harm the motor or circuitry? I tried just regular water and vinegar (half and half) and ruined it (stopped working). Do you think it was the acidity of the vinegar or the minerals in the water that could have caused corrosion? I noticed one of your recipes uses regular water and a lot of them use vinegar. Please let me know your thoughts, don’t want to replace another Wet Jet. Thanks!

I have no idea. I’ve never tried refilling the Swiffer fluid in the containers. I mix my homemade floor cleaners in a spray bottle, then spray them onto the floor as I mop.
