Why is Farmhouse Style Home Decor So Popular?
Farmhouse decor is popular for a number of reasons. These include:
- Farmhouse home decor is warm and welcoming for your family and your guests. The colors and style make your home look more inviting for guests and family.
- It’s also versatile in that it can be a traditional country farmhouse, industrial, or modern farmhouse. This farmhouse wreath for front door can easily be changed to be more industrial or modern.
- In addition, farmhouse style decor is family friendly. The pieces are generally made to look aged or worn. If kids or pets bump into a piece or scratch it, it’s almost unnoticeable.
- It’s easy to find. Most stores carry farmhouse decor, and you can easily find inexpensive decorations and craft items to make your own.
- Farmhouse style has a lot of charm and character.
How Do I Get a Farmhouse Look?
This modern farmhouse wreath for your front door or wall is a great way to get started decorating your home in farmhouse style decor. However, there are some other design elements that will help you give your home decor a farmhouse look.
- Choose neutral paint colors on your walls. Opt for light shades of beige, gray, or cream instead of bright colors. You can paint all of your walls the same color to make your entire home flow together.
- Similarly, use light and neutral colors for your decor. I used neutral colors for this DIY farmhouse wreath with beads, and it makes the greenery pop.
- Use shiplap, beadboard, or wainscoting for texture and dimension on the walls.
- Reuse old vintage items in your home. Mason jars are inexpensive and can be used for farmhouse decor.
- Use wire baskets for storage. They practically scream farmhouse, and they can be used on counters and on the wall for decorative storage.
- Use wood for a rustic look. I love the wood beads for this rustic farmhouse wreath decor. Barn wood is also very popular for farmhouse decor.
- A quick and easy way to get a farmhouse look is by swapping out your light fixtures. This can make a big impact on your overall aesthetic without much effort.
- Distress furniture and decorations. You could paint this farmhouse style wreath with a light color or white and distress it to make it chippy. You can also use chippy paint.
- Painted furniture is huge in farmhouse decor. If you have older furniture that has some nicks or scratches, consider painting it to give it a refresh. You can distress it or leave it painted a solid color. Although most farmhouse decor is fairly neutral, you can paint a single piece of furniture a brighter color so it stands out against the lighter, more neutral colors.
- Use greenery or flowers for a pop of color. I used ferns, lamb’s ear, and white flowers to make this farmhouse wreath decor.

- Beaded wreath form: This is available in 14 inch diameter or 18 inch diameter. Choose the size that will fit your space best.
- Tan bow: I used a ready made bow for this easy wreath idea. However, you can make your own with tan fabric or burlap ribbon. You might consider using burlap and lace for a rustic farmhouse wreath decor.
- Flower bushel: I used a premade floral bushel to make this farmhouse style wreath very easy, but you can create your own flower bunch if you prefer. I used ferns, lamb’s ear, and small white flowers.
- Hot glue gun and hot glue: If you don’t already own a hot glue gun, you can get hot glue guns and hot glue sticks from the Dollar Tree.
- Wire cutters: Wire cutters or sharp utility scissors are needed to cut the greenery down for the wreath.
How to Make a Farmhouse Wreath
Here is how to make a DIY farmhouse wreath with beads in 10-minutes or less:
- Start by removing the faux ferns from the stem. Mine popped right off, but you might need wire cutters for yours.
- Then use hot glue to attach the greenery and flowers to one side of the beaded wreath form. Carefully press down to attach the greenery.
- Next, use the wire cutters to cut off some of the lamb’s ear sections and eucalyptus sections from the floral bush. Use hot glue to attach them to your DIY farmhouse wreath with beads. I layered mine above the ferm pieces.
- Cut off the white flowers with the wire cutters. Then glue those on top of the greenery. If needed, you can tie raffia or floral wire around the flowers and beaded wreath form for extra support.
- Finally, add the bow. Mine had a wire twist tie on it, but you can also add some hot glue to secure it into place.
Tip: You can paint your DIY farmhouse wreath with beads if desired. I suggest white or an off white shade. Use sandpaper to distress it if desired. You could also stain it with a light brown color.
