DIY Shea Body Butter Recipe
Weigh out your shea and cocoa butters using a digital scale. Melt on stove over medium heat or in microwave at 50% power. Stir. Weigh out the rice bran oil and stir into the melted shea and cocoa butters. Stir well. Measure out your fragrance, if desired, and stir well into the mixture. Slowly pour into desired containers and screw on lids. Allow to cool completely, then store in a cool, dry location. To expedite the cooling process you may place these in the refrigerator for several hours. Label and gift. This recipe yields approximately six 4oz. containers or four 8oz. containers.
To use, apply to skin. Great for dry feet and hands – apply then put on socks or gloves overnight – or as an under eye overnight cream to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You can even use it as a deep, penetrating hair mask for dry hair or split ends. Or use as you would a lotion or cream. Ingredients for this recipe can be purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs.
