Ingredients:

1.25 oz. clear melt and pour soap base
2 oz. shea butter (or sal butter)
.35 oz. rosehip seed oil (or safflower oil)
.15 oz. castor oil
1 mL sea buckthorn oil (or tamanu oil)
1 mL + 5 drops lavender essential oil
1 mL tea tree oil

4.75 oz. granulated white sugar (or caster sugar)
.25 oz. activated charcoal powder

Instructions:

To create a variety of gemstone shaped solid sugar scrubs you’ll need two Cool Jewels Diamond Ice Trays. (Alternately you can also use an all diamond silicone mold or ice cube tray of your choice.)

Begin by weighing out the shea butter (or sal butter) using a digital scale. Place it in a double boiler and allow to melt. (Alternately you can melt the butter in your microwave at 50%-60% power. Be sure to use a lower setting to prevent your butter from becoming grainy.)

Now weigh out the clear soap base and cut into small chunks. Combine in the double boiler with the melted butter. Stir the mixture until the soap melts completely then remove from heat.

Weigh out the rosehip seed oil (or safflower oil) and the castor oil. Stir into the melted sugar scrub mixture.

Next, you a graduated plastic transfer pipette to measure out the sea buckthorn oil (or tamanu oil.) Stir into the melted ingredients.

Do the same with the lavender and tea tree essential oils, using a fresh pipette for each ingredient.

Now weigh out the granulated white sugar and the activated charcoal powder into a 2-cup glass Pyrex measuring cup. (You can use caster sugar for less exfoliation or for more sensitive skin.) Mix with a fork to incorporate the two ingredients together.

Slowly pour the melted sugar scrub base into the dry sugar and activated charcoal mixture. Whisk the melted ingredients into the sugar and activated charcoal until thoroughly combined, then pour the sugar scrub mixture into your mold cavities. You will have enough sugar scrub to make 9-10 gemstone shaped solid sugar scrubs.

Place your molds into the refrigerator until the solid sugar scrubs have hardened completely, then pop out of the mold cavities and package as desired.

(Please note that if you live in a warmer climate or will be selling and/or shipping these gemstone shaped solid sugar scrubs, these could melt. You can avoid this by increasing the amount of melt and pour soap base slightly or and/or decreasing the amount of liquid at room temperature oil called for in this detox sugar scrub recipe. During fall/winter or for personal use in a climate controlled environment, this detox sugar scrub recipe can be kept as is.)

To use your detox sugar scrubs, simply mash part of one gemstone shaped solid sugar scrub in very wet hands and massage onto wet skin. Then simply rinse and pat dry.
