Cleopatra’s Golden Glowtion Shimmer Oil Recipe
Get glitzy with Cleopatra’s golden glowtion shimmer oil! Cleopatra’s golden glowtion shimmer oil recipe creates a dry body oil loaded with lots of golden light reflecting mica. Spray it on and massage in for highlights and an all over golden glow that helps to hide skin’s subtle imperfections and give the appearance of a more even skin tone!
My friend, Cathy, inspired me to make this golden glowtion shimmer oil recipe after seeing my mermaid shimmer spray. However, she was a looking for a much bolder shimmer and a simpler recipe to recreate. Therefore, I kept the ingredients for my Cleopatra’s golden glowtion shimmer oil recipe extremely simple but added a lot more mica.
For those of you who aren’t destroying your kitchen on a regular basis like the rest of us, this easy 4-ingredient recipe will also help to make the startup costs for this project a lot more affordable.
However, if you prefer the dry oil recipe I used for my mermaid shimmer spray, you can use that one instead. Just be sure to either double that recipe or halve the amount of mica. (The mermaid shimmer spray recipe yields one 4 oz. container while this one yields two.)
The mica for this golden glowtion shimmer oil does settle when not in use. So be prepared for that. I wanted to avoid using emulsifiers and other more complicated ingredients simply for the sake of keeping the mica suspended in the product. I found that a light dry oil works fine for this application. You just need to shake the golden glowtion vigorously before each use for consistency.
The gold shimmer is dazzling when sprayed onto skin and massaged in. Cathy used it on her skin and ended up with something akin of a light shimmering tan. (She and I are both super pale.) However, I’m sure it would be just as stunning on dark skin as well!
We also chose a lip and eye safe gold sparkle mica for this project so you can use it anywhere your heart desires. I hope you have fun with this recipe!
Cleopatra’s Golden Glowtion Shimmer Oil Recipe
Ingredients:
4.75 oz. fractionated coconut oil
2.75 oz. clear jojoba oil
.75 oz. gold sparkle mica
.2 oz. skin safe fragrance oil, of choice
Instructions:
You’ll need a digital scale to weigh out all of the ingredients for my golden glowtion shimmer oil recipe.
Begin by weighing out the fractionated coconut oil, clear jojoba oil and a skin safe fragrance oil of your choice. Combine the ingredients in a large glass beaker or glass Pyrex measuring cup. Stir to combine.
Now weigh out the add the mica. Mix vigorously until the mica is thoroughly combined throughout the oil and there are no more clumps.
Once combined, use a funnel to fill evenly fill two 4 oz. bottle with a mist sprayer. (I used the 4 oz. Frosted PET Cosmo Round Bottles with White Fine Mist Sprayers and Brushed Aluminum Collars from SKS Bottle & Packaging found here.) Then screw on the sprayers to your bottles.
Label your golden glowtion shimmer oil bottles as desired for personal use or gifting. (I made a sticker label for mine glowtion using Egyptian clipart that I purchased from JustClipz. Then I simply printed my labels onto sticker paper, cut them out and applied them to the bottles.)
To use, vigorously shake the bottle to evenly remix the ingredients (the mica will settle) then spray onto skin and massage in.
