Mermaid Shimmer Body Spray Recipe
This gorgeous mermaid shimmer body spray recipe leaves a touch of light reflecting, mica shimmer on skin so anyone feel like a mermaid for a day! Customize the recipe further with your own favorite scent. You can even use it on hair for extra shine!
No one wants to douse themselves in heavy, greasy feeling oils, especially in summer. So I formulated my mermaid shimmer body spray as a dry oil body spray. It sprays on and absorbs quickly so there’s greasy after feel. What’s left behind is soft, shimmering skin and a lovely fragrance!
Even better, this mermaid shimmer body spray is super easy to make. Just weigh, measure and mix the ingredients. Your final product is then ready in under ten minutes!
Mermaid Shimmer Body Spray Recipe
Ingredients:
.5 oz. rosehip seed oil
1 oz. clear jojoba oil
1.25 oz. fractionated coconut oil
1 oz. apricot kernel oil
.1 oz. skin safe fragrance oil
2 mL vitamin E oil (optional)
1/4 teaspoon cellini blue mica powder (or similar)
4 teaspoons super pearly white mica powder
Instructions:
You will need a digital scale and a set of measuring spoons for my mermaid shimmer body spray recipe. You’ll also need a graduated plastic transfer pipette to measure out the vitamin E oil.
Begin by weighing out the rosehip seed oil, jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil and apricot kernel oil. Combine in a glass beaker or a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Stir to combine.
Now weigh out your fragrance oil of choice and mix into the container of oils. I used a Citrus Blossoms & Heliotrope fragrance oil for my mermaid shimmer body spray recipe.
Using a graduated plastic transfer pipette, measure out the vitamin E oil and stir in. (Learn more about vitamin E oil and its use in DIY skin care here.)
Next, using a teaspoon measurement, measure out the micas and add to the oils. Stir vigorously until the mica is fully incorporated into the dry body oil base. There shouldn’t be any clumps and the color should be uniform throughout.
Note: Swap out the cellini blue mica for another color to customize the final color of your mermaid shimmer body spray! And don’t worry. This color won’t translate onto your skin.
Tip: If you’d also like to include glitter in your mermaid shimmer body spray, you can add glitter as well. However, you’ll need a very fine glitter that is .004″ in size so it doesn’t clog the sprayer.
Once combined, use a funnel to fill one 4 oz. bottle with a mist sprayer. (I used the 4 oz. Frosted PET Cosmo Round Bottles with White Fine Mist Sprayers and Brushed Aluminum Collars from SKS Bottle & Packaging found here.)
Screw on the sprayer then label your bottle as desired for personal use or gifting. (I made a sticker for mine by printing mermaid cat clipart from LePetite Market onto sticker paper.)

To use, simply shake the bottle to remix the ingredients (the mica will settle) then spray onto skin and massage in.
