Ideas for Outdoor Upcycled Halloween Decor

Every year my neighbor at the end of the block decorates her house for Halloween. She starts planning in summer and on October 1st she starts decorating. This year she created some new spooky outdoor DIY Halloween decorations to add to her existing outdoor Halloween decor. These fantastic handcrafted tentacles were one of those new additions.

How to Make Giant Squid Tentacles for Upcycled Halloween Decorations

To create these tentacles for their outdoor upcycled Halloween decor my neighbor used pool noodles. Genius, right?! She also used duct tape, zip ties, burlap, recycled egg cartons and spray paint.

To make these upcycled Halloween decorations, first she taped three pool noodles together then they zip tied the egg cartons onto the pool noodles to form the “suckers.”

Then, she wrapped upcycled burlap from her crafts stash around the noodles.

Once the burlap was attached to the pool noodles with a glue gun, she then used spray paint in a variety of colors to give the tentacles life.

Of course then they also needed a few random body parts like hands and feet warning you to keep your distance. So, these elements were also added using upcycled doll parts from the thrift store.

More Recycled Halloween Decorating Ideas

Here are some of the other DIY Halloween decorations they created using repurposed and upcycled materials. Many of these were found objects that were giving a makeover using paint. Additional elements were then added to the decorations.

Your neighbour had an amazing halloween yard! Reminds me of my uncle who goes all out as well. I might have to share the tentacle idea with him for next year.
