Shea Butter Body Spray Recipe
This shea butter body spray recipe is fantastic for dry skin! Made with moisturizing shea nut oil and neem oil, which helps to promote healing, this shea butter body spray leaves skin feeling silky smooth and soft and can be custom scented with your favorite fragrance.
What is shea nut oil?
Shea nut oil is a liquid oil that is derived from cold pressing the nut seed of the shea (karite) tree and is a byproduct of shea butter production where the pressing of the seeds produces a fractionated oil. When applied to skin, shea nut oil leaves skin feeling smooth and healthy. In addition, it’s been shown to help with such skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, burns and cutaneous dryness as well as other skin irritations. Shea nut oil also acts as a wonderful protective agent against harsh weather conditions.
What is neem oil?
Neem oil is a carrier oil that is commonly used in creams, dental products, and hair care products and is often used to treat problematic skin conditions. It possesses both moisturizing and regenerative properties and is rich in natural vitamin E, and essential fatty acids. While neem oil, as a stand alone product, has a strong odor, this scent is easily masked with natural essential oils or fragrance oils. This oil is naturally anti-bacterial, antiviral and antifungal and it can significantly help those suffering from skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea.
Shea Butter Body Spray Recipe
Ingredients:
.6 oz. shea nut oil
.65 oz. fractionated coconut oil
.2 oz. Cyclomethicone
.05 oz. 100% neem oil
1 mL vitamin E oil
2 mL fragrance oil of choice
Instructions:
Using a digital scale, weigh out the shea nut oil, fractionated coconut oil, Cyclomethicone, and neem oil into a small glass Pyrex measuring cup.
Now use a plastic transfer pipette to measure out the vitamin E oil and add to the shea butter body spray mixture. Do the same with the fragrance oil, using a fresh pipette, if you are wanting a scented body spray. (If you prefer not to use a fragrance oil and would like to use essential oil(s) instead, you can use up to 18 drops of an essential oil of your choice – about 1 mL.)
Stir well to ensure all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated, then use a funnel to pour your shea butter body spray into a 2 oz. glass bottle with a fingertip mister.
Now simply decorate or label your shea butter body spray as desired for gifting or personal use.
To use this scented shea butter body spray, simply spritz the desired amount onto skin and massage in with your hands. For best results apply immediately after showering or bathing and gently patting skin dry.
