Natural Homemade Lip Balm Recipe with SPF
Keep lips looking great with some natural sun protection with this simple DIY homemade lip balm recipe with SPF! No weighing is required for this recipe, you just need a set of measuring spoons and a double boiler!
Natural Lemon Mint Homemade Lip Balm Recipe with SPF
Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon cocoa butter
1/4 teaspoon shea butter
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 Tablespoon apricot kernel oil
1 Tablespoon sunflower oil
1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon beeswax pastilles
1 Tablespoon zinc oxide powder
1/4 teaspoon titanium dioxide
20 drops lemongrass essential oil
8 drops peppermint essential oil
3-4 drops non-GMO vitamin E oil
ultramarine or oxide pigment powders for color tint, optional
Instructions:
Combine the cocoa butter, shea butter and beeswax in a glass Pyrex measuring cup or a small glass beaker and place in the top of a double boiler. Heat until melted, then stir in the apricot kernel, sunflower and olive oils. Remove from heat and add the essential oils, vitamin E, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. For tint, add your choice of skin safe ultramarine or oxide powder pigments until you reach desired color. Mix well then pour into lip balm tubes and allow to cool completely. Hi! Are the titanium dioxide and zinc lip safe? Do you end up with white-ish lips?

Yes, they are. You will need to add a lip safe mica or oxide/ultramarine pigment powder for color if you don’t want the whitish hue.
